Backed into a Corner

Many of us have heard the old saying “He painted himself into a corner” or “He backed himself into a corner.” This situation is quite unfortunate when it is actually true.  Figuratively, this is exactly what our beloved SDA Church has done.

Follow with us as we go into something that will startle you and hopefully awake you to where our church is heading  and why the Lord must soon “take the reins into His own hands.” (Test. to Ministers, p.300). Think not that the Master planner did not know that such disastrous planning would become the affairs of our church.

Recently we were sent an email from a brother in the faith. It had a video attached to it called, “Seventh-day Adventist Church facing a legal and financial collapse.” Naturally I was intrigued by the title so I watched it. As the speaker (Pastor Brandon Coy) went on, I began to realize what a predicament the SDA church is headed for. He laid out the case quite clearly.

Currently our church has what is called a 501(c) 3 tax exempt status. This has been in place for decades. But it comes with responsibilities that requires the church to meet. Additionally it could require her to  abandon her ” beliefs” based on God’s word, in order to stay tax exempt. Some argue this is already the case in some areas in the USA.

Richard J. Humpal (JD) of Spirit of Truth Ministries writes, “…, according to Norton v. Shelby Co., a 501(c)3 organization/corporation is a “creature” of the legislature, created by the state and therefore controlled by the state. It has no constitutional rights except for a limited first amendment right to advertise; (Va. State Board of Pharmacy v. Va Citizen’s Council or the “Ashwander Doctrine”). In other words, this fictional “person” has no rights. It only has privileges – which can be taken away at anytime by the state. In fact, all statutory organizations, (created by legislature) and known as “public entities” are controlled by the state.”

Sure sounds like the cost of getting a tax break is quite significant!  What we’ve done in effect, is to sign over our rights for some financial tax breaks. Did not Jesus say, “..“give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God”(Matt. 22:21).

So how does this effect us as to our beliefs? Well, for one thing , being “controlled by the state” we have to abide by laws that  restrict our religious liberties in certain areas. For example, the issue of women ordination. This area is quite controversial in our church and it’s building as we speak. We haven’t researched it enough to post what the Elijah message advises us about it, but hope to soon.

But the point being that, we as a church, cannot prevent  women from   joining our church and desiring to become–pastors, elders,  Conference leaders, etc. Because to do so would be inviting large lawsuits due to being a “creature” of the state and the necessity of obeying their “discrimination” laws. In other words the state and federal government are in effect,  the SDA’s church’s “Master”.

In explaining further about this issue, Peter Kershaw, author of the book, “The Church and Caesar: A look at Incorporation and 501 (c)(3),” makes the bold statement, ” When a church incorporates and applies for 501(c)(3) status, critics say, it invites government scrutiny into church finances, activities, and membership. “It lets the government into the church,” Kershaw said, “and gives the IRS access to all kinds of files.”

Then he flatly says this about Incorporating and 501 (c) (3), “The biggest reason not to do it is because it displeases the Lord. It makes the church subordinate to the state, and that’s bad theology. Jesus Christ, not the state, is the head of the church.”

Additionally, as the video explains, this “privilege” opens up the possibilities of “alternative lifestyle” people from also becoming leaders within the church. And then if they desire–to teach. Some may find it hard to tell them no because if the issue is forced, even though the Scriptures state unequivocally that the family unit, a man and woman union,  as God has decreed in His word and  is the only one recognized and approved by Him,  a sizable discrimination lawsuit is inevitable.

So where does all this lead? It doesn’t take rocket science to see that there is a “sinister overhang” above the church. The day is approaching, and in some cases is already here, where those who hold “strictly” to what the word of God says, must capitulate with causes and behavior that we strongly disagree with.

And if the church should decide to quit  it’s 501 (c) (3) status, in an attempt to relieve herself of any government meddling,  it would owe for the decades it took the exemptions! A gigantic financial boomerang would hit . In other words the SDA church is stuck,  backed into a corner!

But this is all headed for a climax. The Lord has said in His word , ” God has promised that where the shepherds are not true He will take charge of the flock Himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent upon human instrumentalities. But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor. ” (Test. for the Church, vol. 5, p.80).

This issue is just one of the many issues that are pressing against the Lord. The abominations are just piling up one after another. But despite this, His true people are boldly speaking His last message and plans for us. The Lord’s Elijah message is ringing out through out the SDA  land and those who are “wise shall understand”(Dan. 12:10)

“Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand” (Daniel 12:10).

“Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing (1 Kings 18:21).

As our laws become more and more against God’s laws and the constitution more and more repudiated,  the inevitable result will be infiltration of individuals and causes that are not in harmony with God’s word.

What the state and government has over the church is the 501 (c) (3) wield. It makes it easier for imposing laws and decisions, by threatening removal of the church’s tax exempt status if it determines a church rule as “unfair” even though God’s word does not deem it unfair. The government  goes by what “it” seems right and not necessarily what Scripture says. Let’s face it, the government and it’s courts are run by mostly God-less men and women who do not keep the Commandments of God.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12).

The church’s willful subordination to the laws of the state and federal government will soon lead to the Sunday law. The Satanic plan is in place and the great spiritual warfare will soon begin. Those who survive the church judgment will indeed witness the gigantic struggle.

“By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation [the United States] will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Maranatha p.191).

In closing, we see that  “the church has turned back from following Christ her Leader and is steadily retreating toward Egypt (Test. for the Church, vol. 5, p. 217). But soon HE WILL take charge. Are we on board with His last message of hope and salvation? Have we taken the bold step forward and said, “Enough Lord, I will no longer serve Baal and support her ways, I choose you!”?
