Leap for Joy!

April 28, 2018

Image result for picture of a man leaping for joy

In Luke 6:22-23 our Master said this —

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company , and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.”

These words were fulfilled before our eyes a couple of weeks ago. Allow us to explain.

There are five Adventist churches in area. We (wife and I) live in a fairly large county called Coachella.  The experience came from one of these churches. It’s one of the older ones and has predominately older members. Our story will deal with a married couple, brother R and sister L.

They are members of one of the aforementioned churches  with brother R being a S.D.A member since 2009. BR (hereafter for brother R) joined the Palm Springs S.D.A church back in 2009. He enjoyed the church services and was moving up the ladder of leadership becoming a Deacon in 2010. But in early 2011 he happened to come home from services one Sabbath and searching the computer came across a site offering a unique Adventist message called “The 144,000 Who are They?”.

BR clicked it and began to listen. As he listened he became almost spell-bound, for the new truths were explained and all backed up by Scripture and Spirit of Prophecy, yet no one in the S.D.A church had ever explained any of the things in the report. The amazement became profound. “Why are these things not spoken of in our church?” BR wondered.

After all they were profoundly serious, showing a church judgement to come upon the S.D.A church BEFORE He comes in the clouds. As he listened he felt such great appreciation for having the opportunity to be exposed to these prophetic teachings, BR went to the room bowing in prayer and profusely thanking the Lord for being given guidance in what is in store for us Adventists.

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” (John 16:13)

Despite the great spiritual awakening BR was soon to witness an unfathomable rejection of the Lord’s Elijah message Truth.  While he found new brethren scattered around the county, he discovered nearly a whole lock stock and barrel rejection or non-interest in the prophesied Elijah message (Mal. 4:5) within the local S.D.A churches.

Soon BR got married and his wife and him would frequent other churches in the area. One in particular appealed to the couple. It was the aforementioned older conservative one. But one thing BR was consistent with–passing our present truth material (CD’s DVD’s Tracts, SOP material, etc.) For a good two years BR and his wife went off and on to this conservative church. Being generally welcome they received good treatment from the brethren there and especially enjoyed the church lunches. They gave an opportunity to discuss prophecy and other important aspects of the Elijah message.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. The leaders, particularly the Pastor and the head Elder, made their move against BR and his wife. The Elder approached BR and told him he’d like to see him in the Pastor’s office after lunch.

BR instinctively knew that it was to be about the slander that so frequently comes against God’s people, SOP explains–

“Do not be unbelieving. The more you are jostled, misapprehended, misstated, misrepresented, the more evidence you have that you are doing a work for the Master, and the more closely you must cling to your Saviour.” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, p.130)

The workers of Christ today, as we have posted before have a large  X on their back spiritually speaking. And this mark is seen by the workers of darkness, yes, even those who cover themselves in false righteousness, many of those at the head of the church work!

Let us remember our King prophesied that Satan would sprew a flood of unconverted into the church to try to “carry her away.”

“And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.” (Rev. 12:15)

The church right now is flat-out “flooded” with non-converts. Truth is not accepted unless it’s watered down and converted into a peace and safety form. BR , while friendly, did not back away from letting people know within the church that God loved them but that judgment is soon to come FIRST to His S.D.A church.

Nevertheless, some objected and instead of discussing the matter directly with BR and going the way of Scriptural procedure, they chose to go behind his back un-Christ like and spread false accusations against him and his wife.

So BR and sister L went into the Pastor’s room and heard accusations labeled against them. “We have been told you are a follower of Waco” the head Elder said. BR asked if he knew about the history of Waco? He did not except short bits and pieces. BR went into a brief history of  Mt. Carmel in Waco, Texas. Explaining how “Davidians” are all too often falsely connected with David Koresh and his BRANCH Davidian movement from Waco.

But as BR went into all this and then into the actual message of Elijah, he did not faze them at all. They were as blind to the Truth as they were before. The Pastor then explained how BR as a layman is not authorized to teach within  their church, even to discuss Scripture and SOP in studies! Can we believe that?? In other words all “teaching” is meaning one cannot discuss the Scriptures and SOP with others without getting the Pastor and head elder’s permission first (ie. church board) ? WOW!

Correct me if I am wrong but this is a definition of a cult. Yes brethren this is what we have come to! Instead of following the below counsel, we belittle, reject and sometimes “separate” brethren from our company. No such sitting down together, Christ  like and discussing specific aspects of the Scriptures and SOP. As Luke 6:22-23 says, the Lord foreseen it  all!

“It is a fact that we have the truth, and we must hold with tenacity to the positions that cannot be shaken; but we must not look with suspicion upon any new light which God may send, and say, “Really, we cannot see that we need any more light than the old truth (historic Adventism) which we have hitherto received, and in which we are settle. While we hold to this position, the testimony of the True Witness applies to our cases its rebuke, “And knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” Those who feel rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing, are in a condition before God, and they know it not.” (RH: August 7, 1894)

“Those who allow prejudice to bar the mind against the reception of truth cannot receive the divine enlightenment. Yet, when a view of Scripture is presented, many do not ask, Is it true–in harmony with God’s word? but, By whom is it advocated? and unless it comes through the very channel that pleases them, they do not accept it. So thoroughly satisfied are they with their own ideas that they will not examine the Scripture evidence with a desire to learn, but refuse to be interested, merely because of their prejudices.” (Testimonies to Ministers, p.105-106)

“..beware of rejecting that which is truth. The great danger with our people has been that of depending upon men and making flesh their arm. Those who have not been in the habit of searching the Bible for themselves, or weighing evidence, have confidence in the leading men and accept the decisions they make; and thus many  will reject the very messages God sends to His people, if these leading brethren do not accept them.

No one should claim that he has all the light there is for God’s people. The Lord will not tolerate this. He has said,”I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” Even if all our leading men should refuse light and truth, that door will still remain open. The Lord will raise up men who will give the people the message for this time.

Truth is eternal, and conflict with error will only make manifest its strength. We should never refuse to examine the Scriptures with those who, we have reason to believe, desire to know what is truth. Suppose a brother held a view that differed from yours, and he should come to you, proposing that you sit down with him and make an investigation of that point in the Scriptures; should you rise up, filled with prejudice, and condemn his ideas, while refusing to give him a candid hearing?

The only right way would be to sit down as Christians and investigate the position presented in the light of God’s word, which will reveal truth and unmask error. To ridicule his ideas would not weaken his position in the least if it were false, or strengthen your position if it were true. If the pillars of our faith will not stand the test of investigation,it is time that we knew it. There must be no spirit of Pharisaism cherished among us.” (Testimonies to Ministers, page 106-107)

At the end of the meeting BR and sister L kneeled and prayed for light to come to the church. Did it do any good? Well the very next Sabbath BR and sister L were asked to not come to the church any more. Prophecy fulfillment —

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company , and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.” (Luke 6:22-23)

The Lord is about to do something brethren and His word is to come to past let us stand strong despite the evil that surrounds us. Keep your head up and carry on with the Truth, His work to be done in the vineyard.

“The tares and wheat are now commingled, but then the one hand that alone can separate them will give to everyone his true position. Those who have had the light of truth, and heard the warning message, heard the invitation to the marriage supper-farmer, merchant, lawyer, false shepherds who have quieted the convictions of the people, unfaithful watchmen who have not sounded the warning or known the time of night–all who have refused obedience  to the laws of the kingdom of God, will have no right therein.”(Testimonies to Ministers, p.235)

“There is a lack of moral and spiritual power throughout our Conferences. Many churches do not have light in themselves. The members do not give evidence that they are branches of the True Vine, by bearing much fruit to the glory of God, but appear to be withering away…They understand not the true application of the Scriptures, nor the power of God. They have eyes, but they see not; ears have they, but they hear not; they continue in their evil ways, yet regard themselves as the privileged, obedient people who are doers of the word.

A carnal security and ease in Zion prevail. Peace, peace, is sounded in her borders, when God has not spoken peace. They have forfeited the terms of peace; there is reason for an alarm to be sounded in all “my holy mountain.” The sinners in Zion should be afraid, in a time when they do not expect it, sudden destruction will surely come upon all who are at ease.” (RH December 23, 1890)

“Whenever the people of God are growing in grace, they will be constantly obtaining a clearer understanding of His word. They will discern  any new lighand beauty in its sacred truths. This has been true in the history of the church in all ages, and thus will continue to the end. But as real spiritual life declines, it has ever been the tendency to cease to advance in the knowledge of the truth. Men rest satisfied with the light already received from God’s word, and discourage any further investigation of the Scriptures.

They become conservative, and seek to avoid discussion…When no new questions are started by investigation of the Scriptures, when no difference of opinion arises which will set men to searching the Bible for themselves, to make sure that they have the truth, there will be many now, as in ancient times, who will hold to tradition, and worship they know not what.” (5T pp. 706-707).

Straight Testimony Approved By Jesus

April 21, 2018

No automatic alt text available.

Recently a brother on Facebook posted this and we knew it should be spread for it’s Truth. As we are well aware, the Lord said this about John the Baptist–

“Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Matt 11:11)

Yet what was John known for? Straight talk and warnings. Oh, how times have not changed. Today, we who are giving the warnings to the Laodicean church, regularly receive rejection in one form or another. We experience every one of those comments mentioned in the picture and more.

“You’re a legalist”, “You’re not very Christ-like” etc. etc. Our cunning deceiver is diametrically opposed to these admonitions. Why? Because he knows that this is REAL LOVE. Not the phony pat on the back, “Oh don’t worry about your sins Jesus loves you no matter what you do”.

In discussing this situation the Spirit of Prophecy says–

“In the time when His wrath shall go forth in judgments, these humble, devoted followers of Christ will be distinguished from the rest of the world by their soul anguish, which is expressed in lamentation and weeping, reproofs and warnings. While others try to throw a cloak over the existing evil, and excuse the great wickedness everywhere prevalent, those who have a zeal for God’s honour and a love for souls will not hold their peace to obtain favour of any.

Their righteous souls are vexed day by day with the unholy works and conversation of the unrighteous. They are powerless to stop the rushing torrent of iniquity, and hence they are filled with grief and alarm. They mourn before God to see religion despised in the very homes of those who have had great light.

They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the church. The Spirit of God, which prompts to reproof, is trampled underfoot, while the servants of Satan triumph. God is dishonoured, the truth made of none effect.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p.210-211)

Did you notice the words, “powerless to stop the rushing torrent of iniquity”? SOP nailed that one! The sins of our church are an avalanche upon us, we try to warn against it but it just rushes on.

Let’s review those comments and address them.

  1. “You’re a legalist”

Yes, we do believe in the 10 Commandment law, which is God’s rules to live by. Anyone who thinks Christ has done away with this Law is wholly deceived.

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt: 17:19)

2.  “You’re pushing people away from Jesus”, “You need to show more love” “Just tell people how much God loves them”

Only those not grounded upon the sure Rock of Jesus, will view warnings as a bad thing. True, we are to show Christ’s love in all we do, but this love is all-encompassing –encouragement, compassion, warnings, rebukes are all part of Christ’s love. To cut out warnings and rebukes is to try and preach a “free love” deception. As the ol saying goes, “We are saved from our sins, not in them.”

Today in our S.D.A church, warnings and rebukes are almost unheard of, very rare EXCEPT in backwards style. You could get warned by the leaders if you warn the church of her sins. It’s the classic “peace and safety” message and instructions we receive from our leaders that is to be the status quo at all costs. We used to have a saying  “All show and no go”- pretty much sums up our Sabbath worship services today.

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” ( 1 Thes. 5:3)

“Our message is not to be one of peace and safety.” (Review and Herald, Nov. 1, 1906)

“My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”(Proverbs 3:11-12)

“In John the Baptist God raised up a messenger to prepare the way of the Lord. He was to bear to the world an unflinching testimony, reproving and denouncing sin. The angel, in announcing John’s mission and work, said: “He shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

John had not been educated in the schools of the rabbis. He had obtained no human scholarship. The forerunner of Christ did not expose himself to evil conversation and the corrupting influences of the world. He chose to have his home in the wilderness. Here his surroundings were favorable to habits of simplicity and self-denial. Uninterrupted by the clamor of the world, he could here study the lessons of nature, of revelation, and of providence, and preserve a sacred sense of the majesty of God.

To prepare the way before Christ, one was needed, who, like the prophets of old, could summon the degenerate nation to repentance, and the voice of John was lifted up like a trumpet. His commission was, “Show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” He presented no long arguments, no fine-spun theories, elaborately delivered in their “first,” “secondly,” and “thirdly.” Pure, native eloquence was revealed; every word carried with it certainty and truth.

And all went forth into the wilderness to hear him. Unlearned peasants and fishermen came from the surrounding country. The Roman soldiers from the barracks of Herod came to hear him. Chieftains came, with their swords girded at their sides, to put down anything that savored of rebellion. The avaricious tax-gatherers came from the regions round about, and from the Sanhedrin came the phylacteried priests. All listened as if spellbound; and all came away, even the Pharisee, the Sadducee, and the cold, unimpressible scoffer, with the sneer gone, and cut to the heart with a sense of their sins.

John called every class to repentance. He met sin with open rebuke, in men of humble occupation, and in men of high degree. He declared the truth to kings and nobles, whether they would hear or reject it. And kings and nobles, Pharisees and Sadducees, Roman soldiers, and officers trained in all court etiquette, wily, calculating tax-gatherers and world-renowned men, listened to his words. They had confidence in his plain statements, and were convicted of sin.

In this age, just prior to the second coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven, God calls for men who will prepare a people to stand in the great day of the Lord. Just such a work as that of John is to be carried on in these last days. The Lord has given messages to his people, through the instruments he has chosen, and he would have all give heed to the admonitions and warnings he sends. The message preceding the public ministry of Christ was, Repent, publicans and sinners. Repent, Pharisees and Sadducees. Repent, “for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Our message is not to be one of peace and safety. As a people who believe in Christ’s soon appearing, we have a message to bear,—“Prepare to meet thy God.” We are to lift up the standard and bear the third angel’s message. Our message must be as direct as was the message of John. He rebuked kings for their iniquity. Notwithstanding that his life was in peril, the truth did not languish upon his lips. And our work in this age must be as faithfully done. “(Review and Herald, Nov. 1, 1906)

As Inspiration says our work today is very similar to John, and we are experiencing a large incoming flood into our church.

“And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.” (Rev. 12:15)

Now is the time to stand firm, now is the time to show “real love” by being straight with the sins in our midst. If we truly care about the souls of our brethren, wanting them to be with us in the kingdom, let us  point them the way forward. Our leaders are compromised as they want to appease the people with lovely sermons that often put us to sleep!

John came with the straight testimony because the people needed that, same with today. The worst thing we can do is to support the sins in our midst by not sighing and crying. This is what get’s us sealed today.

“Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those “that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done” in the church.” (Testimonies , vol. 3, p.267)

“The day of God’s vengeance is just upon us. The seal of God will be placed upon the foreheads of those only who sigh and cry for the abominations done in the land.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p.212)

Speaks Like A Dragon

April 14, 2018

Image result for picture of two horned beast speaking like a dragon

In Revelation 13:11 we read —

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”

We as Bible students know that the two-horned Beast is none other than our beloved U.S.A. We came “out of the earth” so to speak innocent like a lamb, desiring peace, freedom and safety. But just as the Lord showed, we would someday “speak as a dragon”. That day is here. Allow us to go into this.

As we have posted several times previously, the middle east situation is getting hot. And this situation is ready to explode as the prophecy  must be fulfilled.

“Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you.Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up. Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.” (Zech 2:1-5)

The catalyst seems to be Syria. Before we get into Syria, we should look at the prior U.S.A involvements of neighboring countries. Our own country, our leadership under George Bush Jr. began the middle east meddling. Remember “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction”? Nearly all of us bought that hook line and sinker, remember that as well? The dragon began to speak, and what is the original dragon (Satan) known for? Lies. No weapons of mass destruction at all! A sinister pretense.

After all the money and innocent lives spent and taken, what was the result? Rioting, more bloodshed and less peace. Then it all was repeated with Libya. Same result. Now, emboldened by the “success” in overtaking sovereign governments, we began to covet Syria? Why? We claim their leader just like Saddam Hussein, is evil and a murdering dictator and we can’t have that! The dragon speaks again.

Back to Syria, as we write this the USA has now bombed Syria in selected areas. The premise is that they are stopping Syria from gassing their own people. The dragon speaks again. If any of you have investigated the chemical gassing episodes from Syria, you’ll see that its been an undercover covert operation! Yes, underworld operatives from the globalists who are trying to form a one world system. Syria and all the other sovereign nations, such as Iran, Korea, Russia, and who ever else is not aligned with the Western Block, led by the Rothschilds (Great Britain) and a few other longtime mega wealthy families, will be fair game under their dubious schemes.

Why should we be concerned about all this? Let us read once more —

“..while the powers of earth are engulfed in a gigantic war, the wicked in the church shall be cut off, no more to pass through her.  Specifically, the prophet exhorts all penitently to turn unto  the house of Judah (the latter-day Kingdom of Judah — Mic. 4; Ezek. 37:16-22), the church in the purification of which are to be sealed 12,000  out of each of the 12 tribes, as firstfruits.   And he urges the subjects of the kingdom to perform their religious duties and to keep their promises to the Lord.  In short, he admonishes them to give heed to the message of the hour — the message which announces the imminence of the church’s purification, after which, as the promise is, “the wicked shall no more pass through” her, for “he is utterly cut off.” (See also Matt. 13:30, 47-50, Isa. 66:16, 19, 20). (Tract 14, p.22-23)

This “gigantic war” is to be going on while we witness the church purification. The bombing of the holy land is to occur once these middle east countries start to engage in this gigantic war. What we failed to mention so far is that Israel has been bombing indiscriminately Syria, on the pretense that Iran is setting up positions within her to later attack Israel. Iran is Israel’s sworn enemy and vice versa. So once again a sovereign nation is attacked from the outside for alleged wrongs.

So it doesn’t take rocket science to see that all the pieces are there. The Lord has put it in their hearts to ““Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you”.

Everyone of the leaders, including our president is unwittingly going forward with God’s plan! What a time to be alive, on the threshold of the Kingdom!

Are you ready? Have you made plans in your heart and mind to make the trip back to our homeland? Let us read in clear unmistakable words our Lord’s plans–

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be built. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it and I will do it.” (Ezek. 36:33-36)

So even though we are very shortly to witness war, bloodshed and destruction, this is all for the purpose of returning His people back to their land. The nations shall wonder and be amazed!

“But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Micah 4:1-3)

This will be the very last war, as we know it. As His word says they shall not learn war any more. The prophesied battle of Armageddon is not a war in the true sense as the popular idea goes.

To touch a bit on this Armageddon understanding the Rod explains —

“So with the ushering in of this everlasting kingdom, and the consequent restitution of all things, there shall be on the one hand a great awakening among the nations; scrapping vast stores of war implements which they have for years been laying up, they shall seek to go up to and become subjects of the kingdom, and to join the armies of the Lord, allowing Him to fight for them; while on the other hand there shall be feverish war preparations among those who refuse to awaken: hurling all into a super armament program, they turn even their farm implements into weapons of war against the kingdom of Christ — His church” (Joel 3:9-12; Zech. 12:3). (Tract 8, p.19-20)

So this final conflict will not be nation against nation, rather the unbelieving world coming against God’s people. This is Armageddon. More of an individual war versus the standard corporate engagement war .

After this last war the Lord gives the righteous a beautiful promise —

“Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.  Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.  Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion.” Isa. 52:1, 2, 8.

This middle east trouble is a necessary conflagration of events to bring about the pre-millenial Kingdom. And this Kingdom is to start there in Israel, a last day protected land where the final Gospel proclamation is to be given around the world–the Loud Cry headquarters.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. (Zeph 2:1-5)

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.(Matt.24:6)

Right now we are seeing war and hearing rumors of war, yet as the Lord says this is not the end. There is a short work yet to be done of which Rev. 7:9 tells us.

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:9-10)

The first harvest of Rev. 7:1-4 will produce the 144,000 from God’s remnant church today. We know this harvest is brought by the Lord (Rev. 14:14-16) and then from Jerusalem the 144,000 will go out and bring in the second harvest, the great multitude from “..all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues..”.

These events taking place right now should alarm us. If we are not ready yet, taken our side with the Lord and professed His Truth. Oh, what a heart-broken experience!

“Looking forward to this time of deliverance the angel explained to Daniel: “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be  delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Dan. 12:1.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.” Isa. 27:13.

Glorious promise!  Is your heart set upon it Brother, Sister?  Then without delay respond to the divine injunction: “Turn ye unto Him from Whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.  For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.  Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword not of a mighty man, and the sword, not of a mean man; shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be  discomfited.  And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, Whose fire is in Zion, and His furnace in Jerusalem.”  Isa. 31:6-9.

“Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Dan. 12:10. (Tract 14, p.25-26)

A 144,000 Sermon

April 7, 2018

Back on Oct. 26, 1946, brother Houteff  gave the following sermon, which is as timely today as it was then, may you be blessed.

“Before we engage in prayer, I shall read from The Mount of Blessing, pages 162, 163.  The reading is based on the scripture, Give us this day our daily bread.”

M.B., pp. 162, 163 — “The first half of the prayer Jesus has taught us, is in regard to the name and kingdom and will of God, — that His name may be honored, His Kingdom established, His will performed.  When you have thus made God’s service your first interest, you may ask with confidence that your own needs may be supplied…. Be not dismayed if you have not sufficient for to-morrow.  You have the assurance of His promise, ‘Thou shalt dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.'”

Jesus pulled nothing out of storage, so to speak.  He received day by day a fresh supply for all His needs, for Himself and for His work.  Yes, everything — topics for His teaching, the wine at the marriage, the bread to feed the multitude, and even the coin to pay the tax.  All these He received as He had need of them.  Never did He lack a thing.  If we make God’s Kingdom our chief business as He did, work for It as He worked for It, pray as He prayed, trust as He trusted, — then there will be no reason for us to receive less than He.  Heaven’s wealth will be at our disposal.  In fact He assures us: “All these things shall be added unto thee.”

Now what shall we pray for? — We should pray that our first concern be not essentially that of supplying ourselves with this world’s goods, but, rather, that of advancing the Kingdom of God; pray that we may really realize that it is His business and good pleasure to serve our needs, and that we make it our business and delight to serve His interests.

IF ONLY 144,000 TRANSLATED,WHAT CHANCE FOR YOU?TEXT OF ADDRESS BY V.T. HOUTEFF,MINISTER OF DAVIDIAN 7TH-DAY ADVENTISTSSABBATH, OCTOBER 26, 1946MT. CARMEL CHAPELWACO, TEXAS   This afternoon we shall resume our study of Zechariah two. Inasmuch, however, as Zechariah two is a continuation of the story that begins in chapter one, we shall commence our study with it.

Zech. 1:20, 21 — “And the Lord shewed me four carpenters. Then said I, What come these to do?  And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.”

Previously the prophet saw these as four horns, as powers that scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem throughout the Gentile nations, but as the angel projected the prophetic view to the time of the end he saw them as four carpenters; that is, as “horns” they come to “fray” and to “cast out the horns of the Gentiles” from the land of Judah, but as carpenters they obviously come to build for Judah.  Evidently, then, when the horns (powers) of the Gentiles are cast out of the land, and God’s people are brought into it, then “the times of the Gentiles” shall have been fulfilled.

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         15

After having been shown the symbolism of the four horns and four carpenters, the prophet’s attention was turned to another symbolism.  We read about it in the first four verses of chapter two:

Zech. 2:1-4 — “I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.  Then said I, Whither goest thou?  And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.  And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein.”

From the fact that the angel suddenly ordered the young man not to measure Jerusalem, is clearly seen that the man on his own initiative had started to do something that was not in God’s plan.  Hence, his endeavor to measure the city (number its inhabitants) was a mistaken idea of his own or of some other for which he was quickly corrected and definitely told to abandon his trying to measure the city; that it would be as a town having no walls, no prescribed boundary line, because for the multitude of both men and cattle; it could not, therefore, be “measured” (numbered).

Since Inspiration is looking down to our time, and speaking in our terms, the “young man” therefore represents latter day Christian workers (young, not ancient) who subject themselves to the reign of uninspired Bible interpreters that limit the Lord, imagine that the living saints in the city are to be so few that a man can number them, namely 144,000, not considering that these are only the “firstfruits” (Rev. 14:4) of the great “harvest.”

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         16

The angel’s explanation that Jerusalem is to be inhabited by an innumerable multitude of both men and cattle, proves that this was news to the young man.  When and how in the stream of time is this young man corrected? — The only logical and fair conclusion one can come to, is that when the Spirit of Prophecy unrolls the scroll, when God raises an interpreter of the Scriptures, then it is that such a doctrinal correction can be made.

So important is the living Spirit of Prophecy in the church, as “the young” man’s experience proves, that regardless of one’s zeal, sincerity and integrity, he cannot rightly serve God without It, that even one’s best work and intention is bound to be at cross purposes with God’s.  It is therefore, high time for the church to start believing all the prophets have written, “knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.   For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Pet. 1:20, 21.

Inspiration insists that it is absolutely impossible for one to privately (without the Spirit of Truth) interpret the sealed prophecies.  And let us remember that no revealed Truth ever came, nor ever will come through the halls of learning.   It is, therefore, of vital importance that you let alone the Angel of the Laodiceans lest you, too, be spued out (Rev. 3:16).  If he chooses to feed on his empty sermons, still teaching that the church needs no more Truth, that she has enough to carry her through the pearly gate, that he can without Inspiration interpret the Scriptures and know what Truth is, then let him himself eat his unholy feast.  Tell him that you prefer to live on “meat in due season” (Matt. 24:45) direct from the

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         17

Throne of God.  Now hear God’s plea:

“They which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isa. 3:12.  “Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: and I will give you pastors according to Mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” Jer. 3:14, 15.

Ever have your ears open to any claimant of Inspiration if you are not to repeat the history of the Jews.  God will not let you be deceived if you really hunger and thirst after righteousness, if you really want to know the Truth, for He is anxious that you keep up with His progressively revealed Truth.  There is therefore no danger for one to be deceived by coming in contact with error, but there is a great danger for staying in darkness by not coming in contact with fresh Truth.  Inspiration’s counsel is thus:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1.  To keep this commandment is just as important as to keep any other.

To be more specific, the Laodicean angel assumes that there are to be only 144,000 living saints — a measured or a numbered company — who are to make up the Kingdom.  He also believes that no kind of cattle will be taken there, all of which is contrary to that which the Heavenly angel revealed: that not a numbered company of living saints but rather a great multitude which no man can number are to be the immediate inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Kingdom eternal — the church purified and set apart from the world so that

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         18

the called ones out of Babylon may find refuge in It.  The 144,000 are only the “first fruits” (Rev. 14:4) and the great innumerable company of saints projected in Revelation 7:9 are the second fruits, for where there is no second there can be no first.

Elders, you proudly tell us that the Denomination now numbers nearly a million members, and that she has set her goal to double the membership.  On one hand you brag about its rapid growth, and on the other hand you try to refute “The Shepherd’s Rod’s” teaching on the great multitude of Revelation 7:9 which the “Rod” proves by the Scriptures that they are the second fruits of the harvest.  By your positively holding that the living saints are to be only a few in number, only 144,000, and by your bragging about the Denomination’s growth and multiple thousands of members already in the church, you are thus creating a paradox for yourselves and for all your sympathizers.

Besides this, you admit that the greatest part of the work is yet to be done — that there are millions upon millions even in the United States itself who have not as yet heard so much as the name Seventh-day Adventist, much less “the everlasting gospel.”  Plain it is, therefore, Brethren, that at the present rate of growth, when the work is finished and Jesus comes to take His church to glory-land, the Denomination by then will have grown to several million strong.

Notwithstanding this background that you Elders have yourselves built up, yet contrary to it all, you teach that when Jesus comes, there will be only 144,000 living saints, no more!  Are you Elders not confused and confusing!  If you really believe in your theory of the 144,000, then will you in the Spirit of Christ and at least for your own soul’s sake, take paper and pencil and accordingly figure the percentage

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         19

of saints and the percentage of tares, devils, that even now constitute the membership of our churches?  Since it already numbers no less than 800,000, and if there be only 144,000 saints in it when Jesus comes, then according to this ratio, considering the membership at the present time, a congregation of 100 members would even now consist of about 18 saints and 82 devils!  If this be so, then what chance for you?  And since the officers who run the churches are elected by majority vote, do you see who elected them, who is in office, and who is in control of the churches?  Do you wonder then why things are running as they are?

If it be true that there are to be only 144,000 living saints when Jesus comes, and if the membership doubles by the end of 1953 or 1954 as the aim seems to be (though doubtful), then at that rate in 1955 there will be only 9 saints to 91 devils out of every hundred members.  Accordingly, if the membership doubles several times before Jesus comes to receive His church, then there will not be even one saint in a hundred members!  Still lesser chance for you!  If this be so, then ask yourselves whose church is the church? — the Devil’s?  or the Lord’s?  and where shall He look for it when He comes?

These sad facts stand as high as mountains against your private interpretations, Elders, and as eye-openers to your flocks.  If you therefore continue to say that you are not asleep, that your interpretation of the Word is unquestionable, that you have all the Truth to take you through the Pearly Gates, that you have need of nothing more, then there is no hope; you are too far gone.

We personally know, though, that there are many who are not so badly fooled, who have not bowed the

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         20

knee to Baal, who have not permitted themselves to be locked in corrals as it were, like sheep and cattle, by imposters who control and feed the flock of God there with such low grade husks as this study shows.

Your bragging about the Denomination’s achievements and of her numerous conversions the world over, if it be true, Truth now challenges you to honestly answer the questions that here ensue: Why are you giving them hope of a home in the Kingdom if you positively know that they cannot be saved?  Is not such an ingathering outright deception and the greatest endeavor to infiltrate the church with tares ever heard of?  and is it not spiritual whoredom of the worst kind to fill the church of God with devils?

To cover up the deep slumber that is reflected by the aforesaid figures, one minister explained: “When the work closes,” he said, “there would be in the church many more thousands than 144,000 living saints, but rather than being translated, the greater number of them will have to die from the plagues or from epidemics before Jesus comes, because they could not be good enough for translation although perfect enough for resurrection”!

What an eye-opener to the laity these outstanding false doctrines!  And what a compelling power and a good chance now for you Elders to admit Christ’s charge that you are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” Rev. 3:17.  If the Spirit of Truth cannot now convince you of Truth and righteousness, then He never will.  It is, therefore, imperative that you now confess to the laity your guilt of passing out false doctrines, that you will no longer fool yourselves or your flocks by wasting time and energy trying trying to measure Jerusalem.  Wisdom cries

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         21

out that you at once take to heart His counsel:

“I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire [inspired Truth], that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve [such as this], that thou mayest see.  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Rev. 3:18, 19.

For your sake these things have been kept away from the public eye, but since you have completely scorned every Heaven-sent plea for twenty long years, you are now reaping a harvest.  Your nakedness, you see, is already beginning to be uncovered.  And if you do not respond to this Truth and turn against the abominations here exposed, and gladly accept this plea for reformation, then every one will know that your doings, Elders, are deliberate attempts to deceive “the very elect,” the 144,000, who, according to the prophecies that are now unsealed, are now almost all in the church.  We shall now continue with Zechariah’s prophecy of chapter two:

Zech. 2:5 — “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.”

Only a stone wall surrounded Jerusalem in Zechariah’s time. But a wall of fire is to surround the Jerusalem of our time, the Jerusalem of which Zechariah was instructed to write.  It is from this latter Jerusalem that the Lord is to teach us of His ways, and to cause us to walk in His paths, “for,” declares the gospel prophet, “…out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem,” Isa. 2:3.  Thus the call:

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         22

Zech. 2:6 — “Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.”

The statement “I have spread you abroad as the four winds of heaven,” cannot be limited to the Jews in Babylon.  It embraces universal scattering of God’s people, Judah and Israel, throughout the lands of the Gentiles.  Since the prophecy is directed to our time, then the call to “come forth” and to “flee from the land of the north” is to be sounded to God’s people at the time the Babylon of Revelation chapter seventeen reigns.  The call, “come forth and flee from the land of the north” is parallel with the call, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Rev. 18:4.  This call cannot be taken to mean that God’s people should merely come out of one building, or of one land, and go into another where, too, sin is practiced.

The place that they are called to come must be free from sin and thus free from the plagues.  Obviously they are called to come to the Kingdom whose immediate citizens are to be the first fruits, the 144,000, the church purified and set apart from the world.  Then it shall be said to it, “…henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.” Isa. 52:1.

Zech. 2:7 — “Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.”

Certain it is that “the daughter of Babylon” cannot possibly be the mother, ancient Babylon.  Rather, she must be the latter day Babylon, the Babylon that drives (rules) the scarlet-colored beast (Rev. 17).

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         23

It is plain, moreover, that all the saints are called to get out of Babylon before the plagues of Revelation 16 fall upon her if they are to be delivered from them.  But how can Zion deliver herself, if she does not hear the Lord’s warnings to leave Babylon?  It is therefore very urgent that this message reach her ears.

Zech. 2:8 — “For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath He sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of His eye.”

God permitted His people to be scattered (spoiled) among the Gentile nations, but now He is to send His messengers after them because they that touch them, touch, as it were, the ball of His eye, the most sensitive member of the body.  His church, “the glory,” is His supreme regard.

Zech. 2:9 — “For, behold, I will shake Mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.”

Servants spoiling their masters is one of the signs at the time this prophecy is brought to light.  And the world knows that labor and management are now engaged in their greatest struggle, and that as a result Communism threatens the whole world.

The statement, “And ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me,” is used several times in Zechariah’s prophecies.  We find it twice in verses 9 and 11 respectively of chapter 2, and once in verse 9 of chapter 4.  What does it signify? — It definitely implies that at the time these scriptures are unfolded, the majority of the people are doubters but that at last they shall know that the Lord has sent this message to them.

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         24

Doubters as a rule wait until there is unquestionable evidence before they acknowledge that the message is from God, but it may not do them any good at that late hour.

Zech. 2:10 — “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.”

Obviously this coming of the Lord is not the one in which the saints meet Him in the air (1 Thess. 4:16, 17), for the Lord does not in this scripture say that He comes to receive His people so that they may dwell and reign with Him a thousand years (Rev. 20:4), but that after the sinners have been taken away from among them He comes to “dwell” with them, to protect them from the angry Gentile nations during the “time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation.”  He protects them by a “wall of fire round about” them.  That time of trouble is almost here.  The world sees it coming.  Do you, Brother, Sister?  And what are you doing about it?

“In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.  And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.  And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         25

defence.  And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” Isa. 4:2-6.

Zechariah’s coming of the Lord therefore, is the same as Michael’s standing to deliver all those whose names are written in the Book. Dan. 12:1.  Ever remember that the books are open and examined during the Judgment Day. (Dan. 7:10).  That our names be found in that “Book” should now be the most absorbing concern of each of us.

Zech. 2:11 — “And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.”

Just as soon as we as a Denomination awake to the fact that “many nations shall be joined to the Lord,” and be His people, just that soon will the theory of only first fruits die out.  And just as soon as this message reaches every church member, just that soon will the purification take place.  “And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.  Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.” Mal. 3:3, 4.  “The wicked shall no more pass through” her, “he is utterly cut off.” Nah. 1:15.

Now it is clearly seen how narrow our ideas have been of God’s great work and of His way to finish it, not knowing that while the work is being completed, a great multitude, which no man can number, out of

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         26

all nations (Rev. 7:9), will join the “mountain of the Lord’s house” and shall be His people (Isa. 2:2).  Pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is [done] in Heaven.”  The need of a genuine revival and reformation now becomes exceedingly evident.  What does revival and reformation mean? — “Revival and reformation are two different things.  Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death” and “reformation signifies a reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices.” — Christ Our Righteousness, pg. 121, 1941 edition.

Finally, observe that Zechariah 2 contains the same truth that Isaiah 2, Micah 4, Jeremiah 31, and Ezekiel 36 contain.

Let us continue our study with:

Zech. 2:12 — “And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the Holy Land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.”

This is what the Bible teaches, and no one can afford to doubt the Word of God.  This being the message of the hour, and as all are to be judged by It, then if we do not fully accept It we would be in God’s sight naught but “cumberers of the ground.”  Our so-called good works alone will not lead us out of Babylon, but our understanding the Truth for this time, and implicitly heeding God’s call, will.

You remember that while Noah was preaching that a destruction would come from the Almighty, he was also preparing a place of refuge — building the ark.  Those who doubted Noah’s announcement of the flood, and who scoffed at the idea that they should enter the

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         27

ark for safety at a time when there was not even the slightest sign of threatening rain, were doubters no longer when the elements of nature were unleased.  Then they madly rushed to the ark; but to their dismay and utter disappointment, they found the door tightly closed against them.  Thus all, both good and bad who chose to remain outside the ark, perished.  The antedeluvians’ experience should serve as a reminder to us that we be not presumptuous as were they.  We should instead take to heart the clear warning that is pertinent to this hour, for we are told that as it was in the days of the flood, so shall it be at the time of the Lord’s coming.

The ark of today is “Zion and Jerusalem,” “for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” Mic. 4:2.

Zech. 2:13 — “Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for He is raised up out of His holy habitation.”

Note carefully what the Word says, “He is raised,” not “He shall rise.”  Plainly, then, when the Lord uttered this prophecy, He projected His words into the future, speaking in the present tense as though it were at the very time the prophecy was in the process of being fulfilled.  Thus the statement, “He is raised,” means that now at the revelation of this Truth “He is raised”; and the statement, “The Lord shall inherit Judah His portion in the Holy Land,” means that He is yet to inherit Judah, the church purified.  We are, therefore, now living between these two points of time — between “He has raised up,” and “He shall inherit.”

What shall our resolution now be?  Shall we close our eyes to these solemn and glorious revelations of

Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 12                         28

events that are now taking place?  Shall we still doubt and continue to await results?  or shall we arise whole-heartedly and do God’s bidding?  Shall His Kingdom or our own homes be made our first interest?  If we do not now correct our perverted motives, how can we then honestly say, “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done”?  and how can you expect the temporal things of life to “be added unto you?” Matt. 6:33.

Have we resolved once and forever to serve God, not self, to study as never before, and to put aside all doubting?

Have we resolved once and forever to serve God, not self, to study as never before, and to put aside all doubting?  Says the Lord, “…It is a light thing that thou shouldest be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be My salvation unto the end of the earth.” Isa. 49:6.

“…He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His Truth,” Ps. 96:13.
