That “Other” Angel (Rev.18:1 — EW. P.277)

In Revelation 18:1 we read —

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”

And in Early Writings, page 277 —

“I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven, descending to the earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory.

The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844.

The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry. And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message.”

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom.”

Let’s look at some Inspired references to gain more light on the powerful and full of glory angel message.

There are several references that indicate what the fourth angel message is. Granted we don’t have the full understanding but we have a good solid idea. Starting with the above SOP reference. we see that this angel unites with the third angel. In other words this message in closely associated with that of the third angel message, which is basically a warning not to worship the Beast and his image (Rev. 14:9-11).

The message gives “power and force” to the third angel’s message and at the “right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry.”

It is worth noting that this fourth angel is called “mighty angel” and has “great power.” Ah, now let us zoom in now! Let use read this part again —

“This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom.”

The above SOP quote tells us an important fact — the 144,000 sealed servants of God from Rev. 7:1-4 give the fourth angel’s message! The Rod message confirms this fact–

“As a result of the purification of the church, the sealing of the 144,000, the servants of God, the earth is lightened with the glory of the angel (Rev. 18:1), with “the everlasting gospel” (Rev. 14:6). God’s people are then called out of Babylon’s domain that they be not partakers of her sins (Rev. 18:4). Then are they brought into a place where there are no sins, where the remnant keep the commandments of God, and where there is no fear of the plagues ever falling (Rev. 18:4). And so chapter 18 begins after the sealing of the servants of God, and ends with the destruction of the woman, Babylon the Great. This takes place after the saints have been called out and taken home.” (2 TG, no. 14, p.20)

“The eighteenth chapter is a continuation of the seventeenth, and so we shall study it also:

Rev. 18:1 — “And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”

After what things? — After the scarlet-colored beast comes into being and while the woman, Babylon, is sitting upon him. It is then that the earth is to be lightened with the glory of the angel, with the message of the hour.

Rev. 18:2-4 — “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

A heavenly voice, the Spirit of Truth, is heard calling God’s people out of Babylon after the earth is lightened with the glory of the angel. For God’s people to come out so that they be not partakers of her sins and receive not of her plagues, they must necessarily be called into a place that is free from sin, and thus be saved from Babylon’s plagues. Consequently they go into a purified sinless church, and a land that is not in danger of the plagues.” (TG, Vol. 2, no. 18, p.23)

So we see that the 144,000 shall deliver the message with great power and fearlessly. We also see that this great final powerful message, which joins the third angel’s message is AFTER the church purification. So not only do we have the beginning time period of the fourth angel’s message but we notice that the end of it is when all God’s people have been called out of Babylon and placed into the kingdom “home”.

“To get the proper understanding of the third angel’s message we shall divide it into three periods: (1) Beginning of the proclamation of the true Sabbath, Rev. 14:6-11; (2) Reformation, and sealing of the 144,000, Rev. 7:1-8; (3) The Loud Cry, Rev. 18:1.” (SRod, vol. 1, p.32)

Once again we notice the timing of the fourth angel is the –Loud Cry period.

“If we would receive the light of the glorious angel that shall lighten the earth with his glory, let us see to it that our hearts are cleansed, emptied of self, and turned toward heaven, that they may be ready for the latter rain. Let us be obtaining a fitting up to join in the proclamation of the angel who shall lighten the earth with his glory.” (Signs of the Times, Aug. 1, 1892, par.14)

Below is a handy chart showing the Revelation chapter time periods. Again, we see that Rev. 18 fourth angel’s message begins in concurrence with the “time of trouble”, which can only start once the tares are removed from the church. Such a pure church will enrage Satan (Rev. 12: 15-17), thus the time of trouble comes upon the world.

“Flood” is the same as “water”, which means people (in the church) unconverted, whom Satan is using to cause the church to be carried away in a very quiet manner, so that no one would be suspicious of the great deception. In this way he attempts to deceive the very elect (144,000) if it were possible. Being impossible, Christ Himself interposes and delivers His people (those who sigh and cry for all the abominations in the church) and then makes an example of the others.

Rev. 12:16, “And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.” The meaning is that they die, being buried in the earth, as in Num. 16:32, “And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.” Thus, “the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Isa. 59:19, last part. This will fulfill Matt. 13:29, 30: “Let both the wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest.”

The separation will mark the beginning of the harvest, which is the Loud Cry of the third angel’s message. Rev. 18:1. The Spirit of God is poured upon His people (those who escape the ruin), and the promise is, that it shall never depart from them. Isa. 59:21, “As for Me, this is My covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and My words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and forever.” Read “Isaiah the Gospel Prophet,” Volume 3, pages 43-49.

As soon as the separation is finished, and Satan has lost out with his deceptive scheme, the church finds herself in a great conflict with the enemy. Rev. 12:17, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed [those who are left], which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (The war against the woman is the blue law.) This subject of the fourth angel’s message is deep and far-reaching and we’ve only touched a bit on it. Hopefully we’ll do further posts expanding more on this “great and glorious” message.

Ultimate Goal for Seventh-day Adventists

We as Seventh-day Adventists are just like the many other Christians in the world, we say “I want to be with Jesus, I want to be in heaven.” This is our true desire our hope in which we live. Yet, how few SDA truly know what the Lord requires of us to indeed –see Him. You see we are a peculiar people, a group of people of which has been shown great light. The Spirit of prophecy and the Lord’s Elijah message, we are ( or should be) privileged to know and follow.

In this post we will endeavor to learn more of the knowledge of the 144,000. Because we should be seekers of more truth, we must not neglect to improve our Scripture knowledge. In fact there are serious warnings if we become lazy or ignorant.

“Ignorance is a sin, when knowledge can be obtained. ” (HR, Sept. 1, 1866)

“If light and truth is within our reach, and we neglect to improve the privilege of hearing and seeing it, we virtually reject it; we are choosing darkness rather than light.” Great Controversy, pp. 595, 596, 597.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”(Hosea 4:6)

The Christian world claims to know Christ through the Bible, yet they don’t have that illumination that the Bible foretold would come (Mal. 4:5 and Rev. 19:10). We as SDA and DSDA have no excuse , we can have it IF we seriously want it.

Last week we spoke of the current dire situation unfolding in the world. But those who are serious in their walk with the Lord, those who have accepted the Lord’s final message of Elijah, really do not fear. No, not in the least! They are secure and prepared. The Scriptures are illuminated to them and they rejoice that the Lord has dealt bountifully with them by “guiding them into all truth” (John 16:13).

Let us now look at our ultimate goal, our ultimate passion for our existence today. To be among the 144,000 and stand with Jesus in the Kingdom.

We have posted several posts on this subject but we’d like to delve into it more because the time truly is so close at hand of the disclosure of God’s elect.

God started our church under the leadership of a woman named Ellen Gould Harmon, later to be Ellen G. White. Her very first vision from God is our subject–the 144,000. This is telling. God was to get our church off on the right step, the most important topic for us today. It’s amazing how God often does things in a circle. He began our church with the knowledge of the 144,000 and His word says he’ll end our SDA church with the knowledge (disclosure) of the 144,000.

To begin with, both Ellen White (Spirit of Prophecy) and Victor Houteff (The Lord’s Elijah message) began their ministry by announcing their calling in discussing the 144,000. EGW , as mentioned had that first vision , which can be read in Early Writings, p.13-20. Brother Houteff had his first publication , The Shepherd’s Rod, volume 1, preface with this announcement–

“THIS publication contains only one main subject with a double lesson; namely the 144,000, and a call for reformation.”

So if we are truly focused on being a part of that group we then are truly obedient to God’s word–

“Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand. And let us do all that we can to help others to gain heaven.”(Review and Herald, March 9, 1905)

Ok now that we know what our goal should be, let us look at what the 144,000 will be like. Be prepared to see some eye-opening things , God holds back nothing in His granting them a work to do!

We know that the world is going crazy and evil is on the loose throughout the world. The winds are breaking through the cracks of the Angel’s corners. But who will the Lord use to confront them head on and utterly defeat them at every turn? Yes, the 144,000.

The 144,000 will–

1.In the Name of the Lord , defeat all enemies who arise against them and not be hurt.

“The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus’ new name. At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and they would fall helpless to the ground.” (Early Writings, p.15)

“…the swords that were raised to kill God’s people broke and fell as powerless as a straw..” (Early Writings, p.285)

“And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 52:12)

“In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.”(Zech. 12:6)

“Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.”(Joel 2:8)

2. Be saviors.

“And saviors shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.” (Obadiah 1:21)

Isa. 49:6 — “And He said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be My salvation unto the end of the earth.”

This scripture had as its type the time when the Apostles were finally instructed to preach the gospel to Gentiles as well as to the Jews. Now to raise up the tribes of Jacob, is first to raise up the first fruits, 144,000 — 12,000 out of each tribe of Israel (Rev. 7:3). Moreover, to be a light and salvation to the ends of the earth, means that these latter-day servants of God are to finish the gospel work, are to preach the gospel of the Kingdom in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and thus bring the end (Matt. 24:14).

It is our privilege, therefore, not only to bring the light of God to the Denomination where the “first-fruits” (the 144,000 — Rev. 14:4) of the great spiritual harvest are, but even to bring the same light to the second fruits, to the great multitude that are gathered out of all nations, a multitude which no man can number (Rev. 7:9). (Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 46, p.5-6)

3. Be God’s army.

“Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms; And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider; With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.”(Jerimiah 51:20-23)

“They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. They all march in line, not swerving from their course.”(Joel 2:7)

“And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?” (Joel 2:11)

4. Stand with Jesus in the Holy land.

“Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”(Rev. 14:1)

“The first fruits stand with the Lamb, safe on Mt. Zion (in the Kingdom).” (Answerer, vol. 2, Question- 37)

“..John’s vision of the 144,000 as they stood on Mount Zion with the Lamb, is an incident after this special company of saints had been sealed, and some time before the close of probation. The sealing of the 144,000 is at the closing of the judgment of the dead, and at the beginning of the judgment of the living. Therefore, they have a great duty to perform upon the earth in connection with the judgment. Their service was typified by ancient Israel when they were obliged to possess the Promised Land.”(SRod, vol. p.171)

5. Proclaim the Loud Cry with God’s power.

“..and with power they sounded abroad the third message. I saw that this message will close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. Servants of God, endowed with power from on high with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth to proclaim the message from heaven.” (Early Writings, p.278-279)

6.Will be servants for God’s miracle power.

“Mighty miracles were wrought, the sick were healed, and signs and wonders followed the believers. God was in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, followed the convictions of his own conscience and united with those who were keeping all the commandments of God;” (Early Writings, p.278) and with power they sounded abroad the third message. I saw that this message will close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. Servants of God, endowed with power from on high with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth to proclaim the message from heaven. (Early Writings, p.278-279)

7. Sing a new song of a unique experience.

“And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth. These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. They have been redeemed from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb.” (Rev.14:3-4)

8. Be protected at all times.

“In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David, and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” (Zech. 12:8)

Zech. 12:8 — “In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.”

“Besides giving us the assurance that the Lord shall defend His people, Inspiration likens them unto David and unto God. Even the feeble ones “shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God,” “as the angel of the Lord before them.” What a great and wonderful statement! What a privilege to be likened unto God Himself!” (TG, vol. 1 no.9, p.6-7)

“And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. (Zech 2:3-5)

9. Be the Lord’s “arm”.

“Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?”

If His people were not asleep, then what need would there be for calling them to awaken? We are glad that God Himself is arousing us and plainly telling us that as our forefathers did great things, we, too, as the Lord’s “arm,” can and shall do even greater things than they.” (Timely Greetings, vol.1, no. 37, p.15-16)

10. Kings and Priests in the New earth.

“In Volume 5, pages 475-6, speaking of the 144,000, we read: “They are to be as kings and priests unto God….’These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth’.” Therefore, the 144,000 are priests, and Christ the High Priest, (and King).

It may be said that when probation closes Christ takes off His priestly garments, and is Priest no longer, but there need be no confusion in this, for we read in Isa. 66:22, 23: “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before Me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me saith the Lord.” Thus we see that there is to be a system of worship in the new heaven and earth which will require Priests and Levites. (SRod, vol. 1, p.39-40)

In closing, isn’t this the greatest opportunity before us? To be born today (of all times in history) and have this opportunity before us? To be among those God will use to finish His work? The above is only a partial list of the work God will place upon His elect.

My beloved, please make a covenant today with God , that you will– “strive will all power God has given us to be among the hundred and forty four thousand.” This number has not been filled yet, unbelievable as it sounds, you and I still have a chance–IF we want it bad enough.

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:13)

Qualifying for the Loud Cry (Part 1 of 3)

Many of us are aware that to qualify for a select group, a group that consist of the very best at that particular endeavor, one must “make the cut” as it were. Examples would be major league Baseball or Football. Acceptance to a major university such as Harvard is another example. But how about the great final team of God? Those who will be honored and privileged to be “a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many generations.”(Joel 2:2). Those who will give the Loud Cry?

Yes indeed, there are qualifications that must be made to be able to be among the greatest people who ever lived. Let us look at these and present a clear picture of the scenario that is about to happen and how we must be sure we qualify. For if we don’t, oh, how devastating!

To begin with we shall start with Inspired references showing that the Lord will do what we as present truth believers know– a church purification. As we have studied on our posts concerning the “seal of God”, we know that without this seal, we shall not stand in the upcoming solemn event of the Ezekiel 9 church purification.

So our very first qualification must be to have the seal of God in our foreheads. Inspiration makes it clear how serious the qualification–

“Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement. Then the latter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the Day of Pentecost.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p.214)

As we’ve learned a “spot or stain” is a repetitive sin that we engage in and do not overcome. This results in or spot or stain upon our soul. If we continue to partake in world attractions ( movies, TV, popular music, dancing, games, world entanglements of any kind), or partake in repeated carnal sins, we separate ourselves from Him.

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

“The tares and wheat are now commingled, but then the one hand that alone can separate them will give to everyone his true position. Those who have had the light of truth, and heard the warning message, heard the invitation to the marriage supper-farmer, merchant, lawyer, false shepherds who have quieted the convictions of the people, unfaithful watchmen who have not sounded the warning or known the time of night–all who have refused obedience to the laws of the kingdom of God, will have no right therein.”(Testimonies to Ministers, p.235)

Let us be ever mindful that the Lord’s Elijah message has brought a final and clear understanding of what constitutes the “laws of the kingdom of God.” The message of the Spirit of Prophecy basically tells us to keep His Commandments and to obey faithfully His Sabbath. The Elijah message confirms this understanding but, and we cannot miss this, we are to validate our walk with Him. We are to be “sighers and criers” of the abominations (sins) done in our church and our own life. For us, this is omni-important! The essence is that in order to qualify for the great work of giving the Loud Cry, we must have the Truth, which the Lord’s sent to us via His Elijah prophet.

We as the corporate body of SDA have not done well in God’s eyes. We have indeed “steadily retreated towards Egypt.” So what must God do about it? Let us now look at prophetic statements concerning His future plans.

The following 24 quotes are all from the Spirit of Prophecy.

1) “The triumph of the church is very near, the reward to be bestowed is almost within our reach, and yet iniquity is found among those who claim to have the full blaze of heaven’s light.

He who presides over His church and the destinies of nations is carrying forward the last work to be accomplished for this world. To His angels He gives the commission to execute His judgments. Let the ministers awake, let them take in the situation.The work of judgment begins at the sanctuary, “And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar.” Read Ezekiel 9:2-7.” (Testimonies to Min. p.431)

2) “The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out—the chaff separated from the precious wheat. This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place.” (2 Selected Messages , p.380)

3) “While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven..there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth.” (GC, p.425)

4) “Many, I saw, were flattering themselves that they were good Christians, who have not a single ray of light from Jesus. They know not what it is to be renewed by the grace of God. They have no living experience for themselves in the things of God. And I saw that the Lord was whetting His sword in heaven to cut them down. Oh that every lukewarm professor could realize the clean work that God is about to make among His professed people! Dear friends, do not deceive yourselves concerning your condition. You cannot deceive God. Says the True Witness: “I know thy works.” The third angel is leading up a people, step by step, higher and higher. At every step they will be tested.”(Testimonies, vol. 1, p.190)

5)“Angels keep a faithful record of every man’s work, and as judgment passes upon the house of God, the sentence of each is recorded by his name, and the angel is commissioned to spare not the unfaithful servants, but to cut them down at the time of slaughter.” (Testimonies, vol.1, p.198)

6) “Here we see that the church–the Lord’s sanctuary–was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God’s power as in former days. Times have changed.

These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus “Peace and safety” is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together. “(Testimonies, vol.5, p.211)

7) “God has not changed toward His faithful servants who are keeping their garments spotless. But many are crying, “Peace and safety,” while sudden destruction is coming upon them. Unless there is thorough repentance, unless men humble their hearts by confession and receive the truth as it is in Jesus, they will never enter heaven. When purification shall take place in our ranks, we shall no longer rest at ease, boasting of being rich and increased with goods, in need of nothing.” (Testimonies, vol. 8, p.250)

8) “There is a lack of moral and spiritual power throughout our Conferences. Many churches do not have light in themselves. The members do not give evidence that they are branches of the True Vine, by bearing much fruit to the glory of God, but appear to be withering away…They understand not the true application of the Scriptures, nor the power of God. They have eyes, but they see not; ears have they, but they hear not; they continue in their evil ways, yet regard themselves as the privileged, obedient people who are doers of the word.

A carnal security and ease in Zion prevail. Peace, peace, is sounded in her borders, when God has not spoken peace. They have forfeited the terms of peace; there is reason for an alarm to be sounded in all “my holy mountain.” The sinners in Zion should be afraid, in a time when they do not expect it, sudden destruction will surely come upon all who are at ease.” (RH December 23, 1890)

9) “God has promised that where the shepherds are not true He will take charge of the flock Himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent upon human instrumentalities. But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor.”(Testimonies, vol. 5, p.80)

10) “The plain, straight testimony must live in the church, or the curse of God will rest upon His people as surely as it did upon ancient Israel because of their sins. God holds His people, as a body, responsible for the sins existing in individuals among them. If the leaders of the church neglect to diligently search out the sins which bring the displeasure of God upon the body, they become responsible for these sins.” (Testimonies, vol. 3, p.270)

11) “God’s displeasure is upon His people, and He will not manifest His power in the midst of them while sins exist among them and are fostered by those in responsible positions.” (Testimonies, vol. 3, p.267)

12) “The purging and cleansing will surely pass through every church in our land that has had great opportunities and privileges, and has passed them by unheeded. More evidence is not what they want. They need pure and sanctified hearts to gather up and retain all the light that God has given, and then they will walk in that light.”( TM p.414, under heading TO MINSTERS and WORKERS)

13) “Study the 9th chapter of Ezekiel. These words will be literally fulfilled; yet the time is passing, and the people are asleep. They refuse to humble their souls and to be converted. Not a great while longer will the Lord bear with the people who have such great and important truths revealed to them, but who refuse to bring these truths into their individual experience. The time is short. God is calling; will you hear? Will you receive His message? Will you be converted before it is too late? 14) “The great issue so near at hand will weed out those whom God has not appointed and He will have a pure, true, sanctified ministry prepared for the latter rain..” (Selected Messages, vol. 3, p.385)

15) “As we near the judgment, all will manifest their true character, and it will be made plain to what company they belong. The sieve is moving. Let us not say : Stay Thy hand, O God. The church must be purged, and it will be.” (Testimonies, vol. 1, p.100)

16) “The desolation of Jerusalem stands as a solemn warning before the eyes of modern Israel, that the corrections given through His chosen instruments cannot be disregarded with impunity.”(Testimonies, vol. 4, p.167)

19) “The great work of the gospel is not to close with less manifestation of the power of God than marked its opening. The prophecies which were fulfilled in the outpouring of the former rain at the opening of the gospel are again to be fulfilled in the latter rain at its close.” (GC, p.611)

20) “The time of God’s destructive judgments is the time of mercy for those who have no opportunity to learn what is truth. Tenderly will the Lord look upon them. His heart of mercy is touched; His hand is still stretched out to save, while the door is closed to those who would not enter. Large numbers will be admitted who in these last days hear the truth for the first time.” (RH, July 5, 1906)

21) “When God was about to smite the first-born of Egypt, He commanded the Israelites to gather their children from among the Egyptians into their own dwellings and strike their door posts with blood, that the destroying angel might see it and pass over their homes. It was the work of parents to gather in their children. This is your work, this is my work, and the work of every mother who believes the truth. The angel is to place a mark upon the forehead of all who are separated from sin and sinners, and the destroying angel will follow, to slay utterly both old and young.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p.505)

22) “Only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One, will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it (the 3rd angel message) when it shall have swelled into the Loud Cry.”(RH, Nov.19, 1908)

23) “Just how soon this refining process will begin, I can not say, but it will not be long deferred.He whose fan is in His hand will cleanses His temple of its moral defilement. He will thoroughly purge His floor. (Testimonies to Ministers, p.373)

24) God will uses ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands. The workers will be surprised by the simple means that He will use to bring about and perfect His work of righteousness.” (Testimonies for Ministers, p.300)

To the World or to the Church?

One of the hardest things I had to come to grips with, yet clearly saw after I studied the Lord’s Elijah message was– not to go to the world right now with His gospel message. I know that those, who like me at one time, who do not know the Lord’s final plans for His remnant church, would feel as if not going to the world right now with His gospel plan would be truly foreign and almost heretical.

Yet, this is what we are told to do in His Elijah message! If we take the time to understand this, we see by God’s grace the wisdom and great love from our King , in these instructions. Let us look deeply into this subject.

First, as an example of where our church is at and what her motivations and goals are, let us look at a recent memo from James W. Gilley, 3ABN President. In their monthly magazine, he wrote the following-

“In all my years of ministry, I haven’t found a more effective, efficient, and powerful ministry than 3 ABN. Think about it–there’s not another ministry in the world with the impact and coverage that 3 ABN has when it comes to spreading the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14. Virtually every television and radio ministry of the Remnant Church uses 3 ABN as its primary carrier of Present Truth!

“Our work is to make sure that we’re listening to the Holy Spirit and are in full cooperation with Him, so we can be His tool for spreading these messages to a world that’s truly messed up with sin. Thank you for standing with us with the courage and determination to finish the task our Lord has given us.

“The Gospel to the World!” if not by television, radio, Internet , and media, then how? If not now when? Keep on keeping On with Jesus,” —James W. Gilley, 3 ABN President (January 2015 magazine)

Unbeknownst to our friend, Mr. Gilley , those points and questions he makes are truly answered by the last message to His church. Unfortunately , 3 ABN, and almost every other mainstream outlet for our church has– ignored and/or rejected the only message that contains our “Present Truth.”

But this is all understandable, however unfortunate, due to the fact that Satan and his minions know all too well Scripture, and they know that the Lord’s Elijah message, if obeyed, hastens their demise! As soon as the 144,000th one is found upon acceptance of His sealing message, their final time clock begins and it’s extremely short. Do we not think that Satan memorizes ALL Scripture and knows about the last prophet to come to the remnant church and his message(Mal. 4:5-6)? He hasn’t sit still whistling Dixie, rather went to work full time to trash and disrupt the Elijah message.

Ok, let us look at a direct question asked of brother Houteff concerning our subject–

WORK WITHIN OR WITHOUT?

Question No. 32:

On the one hand I find your literature teaching its believers not to leave the ranks of the Mother church, while on the other hand I find it causing no end of trouble to the church. How do you reconcile your precept with your example? Why not devote your time to evangelistic efforts, bringing erring souls to the knowledge of the Truth, and let the church alone?

Answer:

Assuredly we do believe that this is no time to be pulling apart, but indeed to be pressing together. And the message which we are bearing to the church, not only does not contain any doctrine or teaching which would warrant our leaving her ranks to become a separate cult, but does on the contrary absolutely forbid our doing so. For these reasons, we have from the beginning steadfastly refused, even in the face of abusive treatment, to leave the Mother church.

So far as we are concerned, therefore, existing controversy and schism is the responsibility of the Denomination’s leading brethren and none of ours, for we are only carrying out the Lord’s express precept and example never to sacrifice Truth. And they themselves admit that we should obey God rather than men. Upon them, therefore, rests the heavy guilt of repeating the tragic folly of the Jews in Christ’s time, by rejecting the message of the hour, “entering not in themselves” into the expansion of Truth, hindering those who would enter in, and casting out those who do enter in.

So, to devote our time to evangelizing the world while neglecting the church, would be a criminal act, one of highest treason both to God and to His people. The church must first be saved from her Laodicean condition of being “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” She, not the world, is just about to be spued out. She “is the only object on earth on which He bestows His supreme regard.”-Testimonies to Ministers, p. 15.

But in her present deplorable state of blindness and destitution as exposed by the True Witness (Rev. 3:14-18), she is utterly unfit for the task assigned her, and must be rescued from her sad deception before she can become a safe refuge and a saving influence to those who would join her ranks. Should God leave her in the Laodicean condition in which she now languishes, not only would she herself be lost but, in consequence, so also would the whole world along with her. He must therefore rouse her up or else raise up another to do the work which remains to be done.

Think, though, what an eternal joy it would be for Him to fit her up and use her to His glory, rather than to have to forsake her! So before raising up another as a last resort, He is trying to save her, and He will save her, as He promises:

“Satan will work his miracles to deceive, he will set up his power as supreme. The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out. The chaff is separated from the precious wheat. This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place. None but those who have been overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony will be found with the loyal and true, without spot or stain of sin, without guile in their mouth. The remnant that purify their souls by obeying the truth gather strength from the trying process, exhibiting the beauty of holiness amid the surrounding apostasy ….

“The great issue so near at hand will weed out those whom God has not appointed, and He will have a pure, true, sanctified ministry prepared for the latter rain.”-B-55-1886.

Were the Lord—Who Himself when upon earth spent all His time in the exclusive endeavor to save His lost church then—to send us to the world rather than to His lost church today, He would not only be bringing in the innocent to perish with the guilty, but would also be completely reversing His own practice and contradicting His own orders to His apostles that they preach present truth to the church first (Matt. 10:5, 6).

In mercy and in consistency with His eternal procedure, therefore, He purposed that “while the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among [His] people upon earth.” This is her special work. “Then the church which…at His coming [He] is to receive to Himself will be ‘a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.”’-The Great Controversy, p. 425.

“The Lord does not now work to bring many souls into the truth,” furthermore says the Spirit of Truth, “because of the church-members who have never been converted, and those who were once converted but who have back slidden. What influence would these unconsecrated members have on new converts? Would they not make of no effect the God-given message which His people are to bear?”-Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 371.

But when the back slidden and the unconverted, the tares, are taken away, “then she will look forth ‘as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.”’-The Great Controversy, p. 425.

Yes, the honest heathen must and will be evangelized, but “the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matt. 10:6) must be sought first. How thankful, therefore, and how cooperative they ought to be, and will be, when they discover that rather than being rich and increased with goods, and in need of nothing, they are actually “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked”—in need of everything- and that the Lord is waiting for them to wake up to the fact so that He can make them what they ought to be.

For these reasons, God says now to work within the Laodicean congregation rather than without. And what He says, that He means, and we dare not disobey, regardless what men may say or do.

There can be no doubt about these instructions. We are to work within rather than work without. Yes, the time is coming when the great work (Loud Cry) will be exclusively that of reaching the world. For this is the crowning act of God’s final plan of redemption.

However the message tells us that there will be “Syrophoenicians” who by the Lord’s guiding shall come to us due to the fact that they are spiritually ready for the “message of the hour”. Brother Houteff speaks about this subject–

Question: When we are not working for sinners in Zion, then why not for sinners in the world? They are all sinners in the sight of God….He has given us light since 1844 and He does not mean for it to be hidden “under a bushel” but to lighten the world.”

Answer: What is here said is true. If we are not working for sinners in Zion, we should be working for sinners in the world. However, if we truly understand and believe the message, we will be working for the sinners in Zion so much of the time that we will have no time left to work for the sinners in the world, save for the “Syrophoenicians.”

Then we would be doing our full part to hasten the day of the Loud Cry when the light, which He gave us in 1844 for to lighten the world, but which we have all along hid “under a bushel,” will finally reach every sinner.

If the opposers of the SRod had lived in the days of John the Baptist, in the days of Christ, or in the first 3 1/2 years of the apostles, and had been in their present frame of mind, they would have taken their stand on the side of the rulers of Israel against the truth of that time.(Sym. Code, vol.1, no.7, p.7)

Let us look at a different perspective. Why do you suppose God would send someone in the “spirit and power of Elijah” as the last prophet instead of someone in the spirit and power of Noah for example?

Had He chose Noah, then this would have to be the type which the anti-type (our latter day prophet) would have to exemplify. Noah preached his message to the world. He gave it for many years and it was solemn.

Elijah on the other hand did not give it to the world , did he? His was strictly to his people, God’s true church at that time. Therefore Elijah’s solemn message of revival and reformation perfectly fits His end time message today in anti-type. This is what our dear beloved brother Victor T. Houteff started, and was inspired to do. This message , which the Lord began through him, is now our message. It goes strictly to the church.

Let us ever remember that in Rev. chapter 3, we the people of the Laodicean church are about to be “sprued out” unless we humble ourselves and accept an unpopular and often despised message of the Lord’s–Shepherd’s Rod. The world is not about to be sprued out–we are!

So let us now answer Mr. Gilley’s questions and concerns.

1)“In all my years of ministry, I haven’t found a more effective, efficient, and powerful ministry than 3 ABN.

Effective by what measure? By numbers added to the church roll? The number of Baptisms?

“The Lord does not now work to bring many souls into the truth, because of the church members who have never been converted and those who were once converted but who have backslidden. What influence would these unconsecrated members have on new converts? Would they not make of no effect the God-given message which His people are to bear?” (Testimonies, vol. 6, p.371)

Whose work is it then now? If our Lord must have a pure church in which to pour out His Spirit to, to enable them to heal the sick , raise the dead, call the honest in heart out of Babylon, then the current effort to pollute (co-mingle the wheat and the tares) the church cannot be of God rather our adversary!

2) Virtually every television and radio ministry of the Remnant Church uses 3 ABN as its primary carrier of Present Truth!

Present Truth? How about truly looking at what “Present Truth” is? Did not the Lord promise to send His last day prophet Elijah to His church? Is not THIS MESSAGE our Present Truth today? is the prior present truth message of the “judgment of the dead” present truth now?

3)“The Gospel to the World!” if not by television, radio, Internet , and media, then how? If not now when?

When?

“But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor.”(Testimonies, vol. 5, p.80)

Do we now think that 3ABN and other host SDA channels, such as Amazing facts, Hope channel, etc, are spreading the 3 angels’ messages to the world right now? How can this be when anyone and everyone can stand before a pulpit, a studio , a YouTube video, and attempt to proclaim it to the world, whether a over-comer or not?

God has promised a remnant church purification prior to the Loud Cry not after—

“Only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One, will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it (The 3rd angel message) when it shall have swelled into the Loud Cry.” (Review and Herald, No. 19, 1908)

“The Lord will work to purify His church. I tell you in truth, the Lord is about to turn and overturn in the institutions called by His name. Just how soon this refining process will begin I cannot say, but it will not be long deferred.” – Testimonies to Ministers, p. 373

“The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out–the chaff separated from the wheat.This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place.” (Selected messages, vol. 2, p.380)

The world’s churches shall be purified as well–

“Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.” (Isaiah 52:1)

“For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many…And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.”(Isaiah 66:15,16,19,20)

In closing, we have seen that right now , in God’s perfect plan, we are to spend our time reaching those within our church with His message of the hour. Later we will , God willing, proclaim the Loud Cry which shall give the final Gospel proclamation to the world.

The big difference being that, instead of any and all non-overcomers trying to promote a false Loud Cry, the real over-comers will do it with the Lord’s power and majestic abilities. The church purification produces His servants who will do this, whom He calls– “a great people and a strong (people) there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.”

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. (Joel 2:1-2)

The Elijah Message in a Nutshell

The thought occurred this week that most likely there are still many who have a vague idea about the Lord’s last message of Elijah. As with most anything, when we simplify something we get at the crux of the matter or issue. Given the supreme importance of this message to us as the remnant church, we cannot afford to vaguely understand it, lest we lightly esteem it. Unfortunately Inspiration says we’ll do that. But not on our watch, right?

1)The beginning of the message starts with Malachi 4:5. Here we see the Lord makes a promise. So a prophet is to come in the last days.

The Lord states that this prophet comes before the “great and dreadful day of the Lord”. So the purpose of this messenger, obviously, is to reveal important things we are to know concerning this great and terrible day. In other words, he is to unveil hidden Scriptures and new revelations, to prepare us for this extremely important day.

2) The Lord’s prior prophetess proclaimed that a male would come after her in the “spirit and power of Elijah”. (Test. to Ministers, p.475).

As we’ve mentioned many times, the Satanic army is against this message 100% and as such, have tried to confuse, deride, and just plain trash it. So the ploy* was hatched by those in responsible positions, that the quote on p.475, would be interpreted to mean that EGW was describing herself as that promised Elijah. But those who are guided by the Spirit of Truth soundly reject this ploy. (* The original statement made in 1890 was left alone and untouched until 1962. As the Elijah message was going out and gaining recognition, the leaders put a asterisk by the statement, leading people to think she was describing herself as the Elijah to come.)

3) This prophet, being in the spirit and power of Elijah must be the anti-type of the original type. God’s truth of type and anti-type in its wonderous glory.

The original Elijah proclaimed a message of reform to His own people, not the world’s heathen. This right here, exposes the work of those who preach that we must go out to the world right now and fill up our church. If this were true, then the anti-type would not be the type and therefore, the man to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, would proclaim a different message than Elijah, thus shooting down God’s truth of types and anti- types .

We should point out that unless we aware of the true nature of our church condition, the idea of trying to save the church and not the world right now, is foreign. To make it a little more understandable, picture two boats out at sea. Both are sinking, one is yourself and your family. The other is strangers. What do you do? Do you try to go save the strangers? Ofcourse not you must save your own.(note- the world’s heathen are to be proclaimed to soon, after the church purification)

4) The message is the straight testimony of the rebuking of sins and the lack of true worship within the temple (church).

Here is the crux of the message. Right now, as we have pointed out so many times in prior posts, the church’s ways are totally unacceptable to God right now. The money passing in the sanctuary,and on the Sabbath, the Christmas tree hangings in the sanctuary, the laughing and useless talking in His house. Then ofcourse we have our own sins, such as buying and selling on the Sabbath, elaborate cooking on the Sabbath, talking business on the Sabbath, etc. Not only the Sabbath sins, but the vast amount of idols we cherish ( tv, music, games, entertainment, sports,etc.). The message calls for us to sigh and cry over the abominations done in the church and our lives.(Ezek.9, Test. to Min., p.445, Manuscript Releases, vol.1, p.260)

So this message is the straight and eye-opening truth. It calls us to look carefully at our walk with the Lord. To stop and take inventory of just what we do for the Lord and His soon to come kingdom.

5) Ellen White, under Inspiration, give us some clear clues concerning this Elijah. The number one clue was that he would be an “interpreter” of Scripture. And as such his interpretations would largely concern the “great and dreadful day” of the Lord. A warning of the Lord’s judgments to come.

As we have pointed out in prior posts, there has been only one man in our SDA history who has fit each and every clue, concerning who and what the Elijah would be. The man has written volumes of literature concerning the prophecies and about our condition as a church body. Those who honestly study what he has written, have a life changing experience. The words said by this man as Elijah can only do a miraculous change in our heart because he had the Lord’s Elijah spirit. This can be our only explanation as truth seekers.

We see, we read, we study, and if we perceive God’s Spirit is not in the Elijah words expounded by this man, there is possibly one of two things happening. We are cherishing certain sins and idols (thus blinded from His present truth), or this man wasn’t the Elijah to come and his words don’t have truth. Nevertheless, we should do as Ellen White wrote. In speaking of someone coming to us with a proposal to investigate the Scriptures she says , “The only right way would be to sit down as Christians and investigate the position presented in the light of God’s word, which will reveal truth and unmask error.” ( Test. to Min. p106-107)

But as thousands have found, upon close and dedicated study, many have found the prophecies interpreted have never been as clear and profoundly deep. As we study these writings, we come to appreciate God’s words, ” knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation.” (1 peter 1:20).

6) New revealed prophecies are explained. Perhaps the greatest and most soul lifting revelation found in the Elijah message is that of the upcoming “pre” millennial kingdom. The setting up of God’s glorious church kingdom before the Lord comes in the clouds. We realize that this is quite an amazing revelation, and not well understood. 7) The final timeline of events. The message gives us the clear time-table of events. Briefly they are:

1) The message goes out around the world now within the SDA church. The people are made to know about it and asked to study it and heed its instructions of reform and renewed dedication to the Lord.

2) The final world war is to happen in the near future over Israel. The prophetic words come, “Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O undesirable nation, before the decree is issued, the day passes like chaff, before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you, before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you!” (Zeph.2:1)

The purpose of this big war is to drive out the current occupants, and get the land ready for the return of God’s remnant people back to Jerusalem. The many prophecies yet to happen have to be completed, so that the Lord’s word does not return void.

3) As the war nears completion or at its completion, the solemn event of Ezekiel 9 takes place upon the church. The beginning phase of the judgment for the living.

This fulfills at least three specific prophecies(there are many others). a) After describing Ezekiel 9, Ellen White says, “Here we see that the church–the Lord’s sanctuary–was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God.” (Test. for the Church,Vol.5, p.211) b) “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins with us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 peter 4:17)

Ellen White connects the marking or sealing of Ezekiel 9 to that of the similar act in Egypt.

” When God was about to smite the first-born of Egypt, He commanded the Israelites to gather their children from among the Egyptians into their own dwellings and strike their door posts with blood, that the destroying angel might see it and pass over their homes. It was the work of parents to gather in their children. This is your work, this is my work, and the work of every mother who believes the truth. The angel is to place a mark upon the forehead of all who are separated from sin and sinners, and the destroying angel will follow, to slay utterly both old and young.” (Test. for the Church, vol.5,p.505)

Inspiration leaves nothing undone. We notice that in connecting Egypt’s judgments and the sealing of God’s people to Ezekiel 9, we also remember that this occured before they came back to the holy land. Not in heaven but back to God’s land here on earth-Israel.

Although our prophetess did not have as much light on the last message and final events as brother Houteff (the premillennial church kingdom for example), she showed that she did have some understanding of it. (In fact, we hope to have a report shortly showing that brother James White and Ellen both understood that the stone in Daniel 2 was not Christ but the beginning of the premillennial earthly kingdom. Just as brother Houteff wrote)

Let us stop here for a moment and clear another deceiving devil falsehood . Some have heard the malicious lie that the Davidians teach that the work of slaying will be done by literal men, as if someday some of the church members will rise up and start slaying others within the church. This is foolishness and beyond absurdity. The Elijah message teaches the straight and clear truth about this. Their belief is based on what Ellen White says, “The work of separation is given to the angels of God, and not committed into the hands of any man.”(Test. to Min. p.47)

c) “While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14.” (Great Controversy, p.425)

4) Upon completion of the church purification, the 144,000 are brought to view. The final outpouring of God’s Spirit comes down upon His “pure church”. The saints are ready for the Loud Cry. The final worldly events begin.

We should stop here and plead with any and all who are reading this, that you and your loved ones have a chance, yes, a most positive chance to be one of God’s elect, his “jewels”. “On the day when I act,” says the LORD Almighty, “they will be my jewels. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.” (Mal. 3:17).

The Elijah message as we so often show, calls for those willing to “sell out” to the Lord. To forego the worldly treasures and lusts. Elijah said “Serve God or serve baal”. So too, we have to decide. No lukewarm followers will be saved, as our Lord said He must “sprew them out”. ( Rev.3:16)

5) The Loud Cry starts and the world is amazed. Signs, miracles, wonders all shake up the world. News reports of blind people seeing, dead rising, lame walking all stir the people. Ellen White describes this period, “Clad in the armor of Christ’s righteousness, the church is to enter upon her final conflict. “Fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners (Song of Solomon 6:10), she is to go forth into all the world, conquering and to conquer.” (Prophet’s and Kings, p.725)

The purpose of the 144,000 servants of God, is to bring in the “great multitude”, the honest in heart people stuck in Babylon, into a pure church. This is key, because as we are well aware many of us in the SDA now believe that this “Loud Cry” is going on now and we are calling them into something nowhere near “pure”.

In this time another prophecy is fulfilled , “He calls on the heavens above and earth below to witness the judgment of his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is judge. Selah.(Psalms 50:4-6)

During this time Ellen White shows that those who “had not heard” of the 3 angels message had opportunity to be saved. “The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those in the churches who had any light, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, obeyed the call and left the fallen churches.” (Early Writings, p.278).

6) The elect of God, the 144,000, make their way toward’s the “premillennial” kingdom in Jerusalem (remember the land has just been destroyed by war). We don’t know how long that trip will be. It could be days or months, we’re just not sure as brother Houteff does not say specifically. The prophecy of Jeremiah now becomes fulfilled, “The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the LORD.”(Jeremiah 30:3) Since Jeremiah’s day only the two tribe kingdom of Judah returned, the lost 10 tribes (Israel) have never returned there, obviously it is yet future.

You see this is a BIG mis-conception. The vast Christendom believes that these prophecies speak of the literal Jews today as the beneficiaries of the prophecies. But the Lord specifically addressed the Jews and their children, “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.” ( Matthew 21:43)

Ellen White comments concerning those who will inherit the covenant promises, “Never has the Lord been without true representatives on this earth who have made His interests their own. These witnesses for God are numbered among the spiritual Israel, and to them will be fulfilled all the covenant promises made by Jehovah to His ancient people.” (Prophets and Kings, p.714).

7) The Land is glorified and the Lord’s people are literally re-united with their King. “Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.” (Rev. 14:1). The people are joyous, the land becomes beautiful again. It becomes the “hub” of the last great work upon mankind. The calling out of Babylon and the acceptance of literally millions who embrace the new “Kingdom” and witness God’s final outpouring, His final chance to mankind. No excuses anymore –all have their chance.

At this point some may be ask, “Wait a minute, with millions of SDA in the church right now, are you saying that only 144,000 survive the church judgment?”

We’re not saying this, it’s the Scriptures and SOP that clearly indicate this. Stop and think about God’s work through His prior purifications. In Noah’s day, out of the supposed millions on the earth, how many survived His purification? Eight. Back in Mose’s time, with the supposed million or so Israelites who came out of Egypt, how many survived His judgement and made it too the kingdom over 20 years old? Two.

Ellen White even declared this solemn statement ” In the last vision given me, I was shown the startling fact that but a small portion of those who now profess the truth will be sanctified by it and be saved. ” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, 608-609)

But more explicit is the actual Ezekiel 9 prophecy. As Ellen White established the Ezek. 9 and the Rev. 7 sealings are one and the same event(Test. to Min. p.445), we logically see that Ezekiel’s witness was that only those who get the mark (seal) are to survive. And that Rev. 7 says that 144,000 get sealed and survive before the winds let loose (time of trouble and Sunday law). This is not rocket science. Solemn, yet it’s His word, who are we to doubt it? Better we prepare than fight it.

God loves us immensely but if we fail to listen and obey the prophet that He sends specifically us His remnant people, we are lost. That’s His way , always has been and always will be. “For I am the LORD, I do not change” (Mal. 3:6)

If we can buckle down and convert our sinful life to one of obedience to His prophets and thereby His Law, then we’ll witness this most glorious time upon this earth, that His prophet Zechariah revealed about the Lord’s handiwork, “… ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I Myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.'(Zech. 2:4-5)

Just as our Lord created the garden of Eden in the beginning, so shall He return it as a wonderful paradise in front of the heathen. That’s His full circle being completed. His wondrous final plea to the world. He tells the world He loves them this much (as His hands stretched out on the cross) and then even gives them witness to what they can be a part of!

Just so we are clear that this upcoming kingdom is pre-millennial, we read the prophecy from Isaiah, ” The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid…and a little child shall lead them… And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” (Isa. 11:6-9)

We know that there will not be any children in the “new earth”, so these kids and suckling children can only be here on earth during a time when births are taking place. Ellen White clears this up.

“There are men today who express their belief that there will be marriages and births in the new earth; but those who believe the Scriptures cannot accept such doctrines. The doctrine that children will be born in the new earth is not a part of the “sure word of prophecy” (2 Peter 1:19). The words of Christ are too plain to be misunderstood.”(Selected Messages, vol. 1, p172)

So there you have it in a nutshell. The Lord’s last message is one of great love yet solemn warning. The same as He did in Noah’s time. Get in the ark (accept His Elijah message of warning of repentance and reform) or be lost. There will be no middle ground. “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.” (Luke 17:26)

In closing, let us remember our prophetess’ words, “The glory of the eternal world has been opened before me. I want to tell you that Heaven is worth winning. It should be the aim of your life to fit yourself for association with the redeemed, with holy angels, and with Jesus the world’s Redeemer. If we could have but one view of the celestial city, we would never wish to dwell on earth again.” (Signs of the Times, April 8, 1889)

—Questions and Answers—

What does the Sunday law have in connection with the Elijah message? Brother Houteff addressed this question.

Question — Is the mark of the beast the Sunday law? Is it to be enforced before or after the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9? And when will “the gold.. be separated from the dross in the church? (Test. vol.5, p.81)

Answer— Former publications of Present truth have made clear that “the winds” held by the four angels of Revelation 7:1, represent the angel’s holding back “the anger of the nations,”–the image of the beast,– also that the angels will not let ‘the winds” blow into being the image of the beast before the 144,000 are sealed. (Early Writings,p.38)

Thus those who in the time of the sealing are among the 144,000, and who do not receive the mark of God, according to Ezekiel’s vision, are to be tested, not by the image of the beast, but by their attitude toward the abominations in the church; and those who do not ‘sigh and cry” against the abominations therein, will be separated by the angels’ slaughter weapons (Ezek. 9:6), rather than be left to be tested by the image beast and to be separated when it enforces the reception of the mark of the beast (Rev.13:11-18 3 Test. p.266; 5 Test. p.211)

Then will the influence of truth “testify” to world of it’s sanctifying, ennobling character. (Test. to Ministers, p.18). Then the church will appear “fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners, “going forth” into all the world, conquering and conquer.” — “Prophets and Kings, ” p. 725.

Consequently. ‘the gold…separated from the dross in the church” (Test., vol. 5, p.81) by the enforcement of the mark of the beast, cannot be the 144,000, the fruit (Test. to Ministers, p.445), but rather is the second fruits,— the great multitude of rev.7:9– to who, after the sealing of then 144,000, will come the test of choosing between the commandments of God and the commandments of men.

The mark of the beast constitutes homage to the image of the beast, in compliance with his commandments, just as the mark of God (Ezek.9:4,6) constitutes homage to God in compliance with His commandments.

As the Elijah message is sometimes referred to as the “sealing message” some have inquired just what exactly is the “seal” of God. Brother Houteff addressed this question. Let us take heed!

Question— What is the seal of God upon the foreheads of the 144,000 (Rev. 7:3)? Is it the Sabbath seal or something else?

Answer — “The seal of the living God,” the Truth, by which the 144,000 are sealed (Rev.7:2), is a special seal, being the same as “the mark” of Ezekiel 9. (See Testimonies to Ministers, p.445; Testimonies, Vol. 3, p.267; Testimonies, Vol.5, p.211) It demands one’s sighing and crying over the abominations which defile him, and which desecrate both the Sabbath and the house of God, especially against selling literature and raising goals during Sabbath services. As the saints have this seal or mark on their foreheads, the angels will pass over them, not slay them. it’s equivalent to the blood on the door post on the night of the passover in egypt. the angel is to place a mark upon the foreheads of all who by sighing, over their own sins, and over the sins in the house of God, show fidelity to the Truth. Then the destroying angels will follow, to slay untterly both old and young who have failed to receive the seal. (See Testtimonies, Vol. 5, p.505)

So, the former seal enables the receiver to rise from the dead in the resurrection of the just, while the latter seal enables the sighning-crying one to escape death and forever to live for God.

Very soon God’s wonderous plan for His church will arrive. The long-awaited “Loud Cry” will be given. This will be the time that our prophetess has spoken of, “Clad in the armor of Christ’s righteousness, the church is to enter upon her final conflict. Fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and as terrible as an army with banners, she is to go forth into all the world conquering and to conquer.” (Prophets and Kings. P.725). Who will be a part? What is the message of the Loud Cry? Let’s look at this special time of God’s full power and Spirit, soon to come upon His remnant church.

Let’s address the first question — Who will be a part?

There can be no doubt that those of us who are truly watching, listening and caring for our beloved remnant church, the SDA church, cannot help but sigh and cry. Today our church leaders are supporting great abominations before the Lord.They are fulfilling prophecy, “for they say, “The Lord has forsaken the land and the Lord seeth not.” (Ezek.9:9)

As an example, many of our SDA hospitals today support and provide abortions. The Wikipedia research article states “Since 1973, many Adventist hospitals perform elective abortions under any circumstance.” (for the full article click here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventist_Health )

The above is just one of the many abominations taking place today within our church. Brother Houteff points out other worldly and pagan customs in our current SDA organization and church —

“…the Roman system that is now carried on by the church: plate-passing, high-powered speeches, Big Day, Book Day, high pressuring, campaigning, selling, auctioneering, Harvest Ingathering, birthday offerings, Christmas-tree hangings, baby weighings, Dorcas sales, investment funds, and what not! As none of these squeezings are Biblical, and as all of them are Pagan in origin and condemned by the Scriptures, they could not possibly be considered freewill offerings. Search and see.

Instead of Sabbath-keeping the day is devoted to money-raising, and instead of a house of worship, the church is turned into a den of thieves — disgusting to observers, and most discouraging for a member to invite a friend or a neighbor to a church service… ” (Jezreel Letter, no.9 , p.7)

Victor Houteff and Ellen White both add, “…the denominational schools, through the accrediting boards of the state universities, are joined hand and hand with the schools of the world, despite the following solemn instruction to contrary; “Let us determine that we will not be tied by so much as a thread to the educational policies of those who do not discern the voice of God and who will not hearken to His commandments.” — (Symb. Code News, vol.2, no.9 p.2) (Counsels to Teachers, p.255)

So we now ask – is it possible that the Lord’s pouring out of His full Spirit upon the church in the Loud Cry, will include these leaders and spiritually complicit, which include those who are aware of it yet don’t sigh and cry about it?

The Lord speaks of the complicit and abomination doers. “Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall..”(Jeremiah 6:15)

Ellen White answers this way. “Only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it (the 3rd angel’s message) when it shall have swelled into a Loud Cry. (Review and Herald, Nov. 19, 1908)

“Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those “that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done” in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that they are represented as being in agony, even sighing and crying. Read the ninth chapter of Ezekiel.”(Test. for the Church, vol.3, p.267)

Could those who are now partaking in the abominations against the Lord be those considered to have “withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One’?

Another identifying quote about who will take part in the Loud Cry, we read, “In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged.. God will work in our day that but few anticipate. He will raise up and exalt among us those who are taught by the unction of His Spirit than by the outward training of scientific institutions. (Test. for the Church, vol.5, p.80)

When we look back to the Lord’s choosing of men for His first advent, we see that the humble honest of heart were chosen for the 1st proclamation of the gospel. It appears the Lord will choose the same types for the great Loud Cry proclamation. The learned and self exalted, who have dug their doctrine stakes deep, and who are unwilling to be corrected, surely stand a slim chance in taking part in the most important work of all earthly history–the proclaiming of the true gospel with God’s full power and Spirit.

Brother Houteff clarifies the true messengers of today, “..His messengers of today will bear no greater credentials of their calling than did those of ages past. Even Jesus Christ with His supernatural birth, sinless life, and miraculous works was condemned by the leading men of His time, who said, ‘This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.” (Matt. 12:24) (Tract 7, p.63)

So the answer to the question is that the Lord cannot use the current church, as it now stands, to proclaim the final gospel. Those who think He will, are ignorant of the Scriptures, SOP, and the Elijah message. Only the “overcomers” of temptations, the ones who are listening and walking according to the Holy Spirit, will be involved in the Loud Cry.

In the very near future we will know that the Lord’s Elijah messenger, then follwed by the messengers, have warned. The Lord has come to His temple(Mal. 3:1-5). The reins are now “in His hands” (Test. to Ministers, p.300). The world has been shocked and bewildered as God’s word has been fulfilled (1 Peter 4;17). Now it’s time for the great proclamation to appear.When the above has been completed, God’s final plan is to be implemented.

The second question is –What is the message of the Loud Cry?

Ellen White explains–

“In every generation God has sent his servants to rebuke sin, both in the world and in the church. But the people desire smooth things spoken to them, and the pure, unvarnished truth is not acceptable. Many reformers, in entering upon their work, determined to exercise great prudence in attacking the sins of the church and the nation. They hoped, by the example of a pure Christian life, to lead the people back to the doctrines of the Bible.

But the Spirit of God came upon them as it came upon Elijah, and they could not refrain from preaching the plain utterances of the Bible,–doctrines which they had been reluctant to present. They were impelled to zealously declare the truth, and the danger which threatened souls. The words which the Lord gave them they uttered, fearless of consequences, and the people were compelled to hear the warning.”

“Thus will the message of the third angel be proclaimed. As the time comes for the loud cry to be given, the Lord will work through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to his service. The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of his Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them.

The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of a union of Church and State, the inroads of Spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power,–all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands have never listened to words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from Heaven.

The people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? The ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears, and quiet the awakened conscience. But many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men, and demand a plain “Thus saith the Lord.” The popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, are filled with anger as their authority is questioned; they denounce the message as of Satan, and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it.

As the controversy extends into new fields, and the minds of the people are called to God’s down-trodden law, Satan is astir. The power attending the message only maddens those who oppose it. The clergy put forth almost superhuman efforts to shut away the light, lest it should shine upon their flocks. By every means at their command they endeavor to suppress the discussion of these vital questions.

The church appeals to the strong-arm of civil power, and in this work, papists are solicited to come to the help of Protestants. The movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided. The law is invoked against commandment-keepers. They are threatened with fines and imprisonment, and some are offered positions of influence, and other rewards and advantages, as inducements to renounce their faith. But their steadfast answer is, “Show us from the word of God our error,”–the same plea that was made by Luther under similar circumstances.

Those who are arraigned before the courts make a strong vindication of the truth, and some who hear them are led to take their stand to keep all the commandments of God. Thus light is brought before thousands who otherwise would know nothing of these truths.” (Spirit of Prophecy, vol.4, p.423-425)

So the above gives us a good look at the events that happen within the Loud Cry period. There is to be great wonders and yet great stress. Our beloved prophetess gives a great account of this time.

“The latter rain is coming on those that are pure — all then will receive it as formerly. When the four angels let go, Christ will set up His kingdom. None receive the latter rain but those who are doing all they can. Christ would help us. All could be overcomers by the grace of God, through the blood of Jesus. All heaven is interested in the work. Angels are interested.”(Spalding Magan, 3:2)

A few Scriptures that speak about this time period.

“Awake, awake! Put on your strength O Zion; Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come to you.”(Isaiah 52:1)

“For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns, the Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will name.” (Isaiah 62:1-2)

“The Lord also will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake;But the Lord will be a shelter for His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” (Joel 3:16)

May we strive to be among those who take part in this last great work– the Loud Cry. A most exciting and extraordinary work that sets up His everlasting kingdom.

Questions and Answers about the Loud Cry—

HAS THE LOUD CRY BEGUN?

Question No. 10:

Sister White wrote in 1892 that the Loud Cry of the Third Angel’s Message had already begun; please explain why others claim that it is yet future. And what makes it “loud”?

Answer:

There must be a marked difference between the voice of the message before the Loud Cry, and the voice of the message in the Loud Cry; otherwise it would not be called “loud.”

The message swells to a Loud Cry by virtue of an “addition” which gives it “power and force.”- Early Writings, p. 277. The only conclusion admissible, therefore, is that since the church has never accepted an additional message, and since there has never come one (other than that in The Shepherd’s Rod publications) that would give “power and force” to the old message, the Loud Cry could not have begun at any time previous to this.

Moreover, the “abominations” in the church have not only kept back the Loud Cry but have also even silenced the fainter cry which precedes it. Indeed, “the angel of the church of the Laodiceans,” being unfit even to finish the proclamation of the message in its fainter cry must be altogether unfit to proclaim it in the Loud Cry. Obviously, if he does not now quickly repent and accept the additional message which is to begin the Loud Cry, then not only will he not help proclaim it but he will even be “spued out.”

“…only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One,” warns the Spirit of Prophecy, “will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it [the Third Angel’s Message] when it shall have swelled into the loud cry.”-The Review and Herald Nov. 19, 1908. So while the fainter cry is proclaimed by those who have, as well as by those who have not, overcome temptation, the Loud Cry is to be proclaimed only by those who have.

Though the Loud Cry was to have begun by 1892, it was muffled when the church rejected the message of Righteousness by Faith in 1888. Thus, the scroll which contained the “additional” message that was to give “power and force” to the Third Angel’s Message, for the time then being ceased unrolling. And consequently, instead of becoming the light of the world, the church herself went into darkness. Seeing this, the Spirit of Truth made a fearful pronouncement of doom upon unrepentant Laodiceans, while giving joyous promise of future glory to all who will arise and walk in the light that proceeds from the throne.

“How will any of our brethren know when this light shall come to the people of God?” was the sweeping question then asked by Inspiration. And the inspired answer was: “As yet we have certainly not seen the light that answers to this description. God has light for His people, and all who accept it will see the sinfulness of remaining in a lukewarm condition.”-The Review and Herald, Oct. 7, 1890.

“In the manifestation of the power that lightens the earth with its glory, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their expectations and ideal, they will oppose the work. Why, they say, should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?”-Bible Training School, 1907. (Reprinted in The Review and Herald, Nov. 7 1918.) This statement plainly projects the Loud Cry into the future from 1918.

“The love of Christ, the love of our brethren will testify to the world that we have been with Jesus and learned of Him. Then will the message of the third angel swell to a loud cry, and the whole earth will be lightened with the glory of the Lord.”–Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 401.(The Answerer Vol. 1)

What additonal proof can you give that the present church will not complete the work of the Loud Cry?

Answer– “If the present church leadership is to complete the work , then how can our brethren explain the following quotation which is found in “The Testimonies for the Church”, Vol. 5, p.80, from which we quote?

“But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true..Those who have trusted to intellect, genius, or talent, will not then stand at the head of rank and file…They are self-sufficient, independent of God, and He can not use them..The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view… But, it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine Christian character will be revealed.”(End of quote)

“If the purification takes place after the gospel work is finished, then why should He disclose another set of servants, and say, after purification He cannot use those who are self-sufficient and independent of God?” (Symb. News Code, vol.1, No.18 p.9)
