The Lord’s Answer to the Inquirers of God

TEXT FOR PRAYERJesus’ Example In Teaching   We shall read from “Christ’s Object Lessons,” paragraph one, page 21:

   “Again, Christ had truths to present which the people were unprepared to accept, or even to understand.  For this reason also He taught them in parables.  By connecting His teaching with the scenes of life, experience, or nature, He secured their attention and impressed their hearts.  Afterward, as they looked upon the objects that illustrated His lessons, they recalled the words of the divine Teacher.  To minds that were open to the Holy Spirit, the significance of the Saviour’s teaching unfolded more and more.

Mysteries grew clear, and that which had been hard to grasp became evident.  Jesus sought an avenue to every heart.  By using a variety of illustrations, He not only presented truth in its different phases, but appealed to the different hearers…. None who listened to the Saviour could feel that they were neglected or forgotten.  The humblest, the most sinful, heard in His teaching a voice that spoke to them in sympathy and tenderness.”

   As the people in Jesus’ time were as the people of today, not anxious to learn new Truth, He used Nature to arrest their attention.  The prophets were led to use the same method.  We, therefore, need to pray for a burning desire to know God’s Truth for today.  We need to pray that we do not become self-confident, and satisfied with our attainments in the Word of God; that we lay aside all prejudices and be willing to learn from the “humblest of the humble.”

 

THE LORD’S ANSWERTO THE INQUIRER OF GODTEXT OF ADDRESS BY V.T. HOUTEFF,MINISTER OF DAVIDIAN 7TH-DAY ADVENTISTSSABBATH, AUGUST 9, 1947MT. CARMEL CHAPELWACO, TEXAS   Our subject is found in Ezekiel twenty.  This chapter, we will find, contains a prophetic history of the Church from the time of her servitude in Egypt to the time of the sealing of the 144,000.

Ezek. 20:1-8 — “And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the Lord, and sat before me.  Then came the word of the Lord unto me, saying, Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of Me?  As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them?  cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up Mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up Mine hand unto them, saying, I am the Lord your God; in the day that I lifted up Mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: then said I unto them, Cast ye away very man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt:

I am the Lord your God.  But they rebelled against Me, and would not hearken unto Me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out My fury upon them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.”

   In the writings of Moses we do not find a record as to the faithfulness of the children of Israel in the land of Egypt.  Whether they were good or bad, Moses does not say.  But here through Ezekiel we are told what they were.  Not all of them, you note, were God-fearing people.  This scripture makes clear that even when God called them to move out of the land of Egypt, the majority were unfaithful in their devotion to God.

Ezek. 20:9, 10 — “But I wrought for My name’s sake, that It should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made Myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.  Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.”

   We have now read the record of the Hebrew host, — of their spiritual standing in the land of Egypt, and of God’s reason for bringing them out of Egypt.  Next we shall read the record which they made in the wilderness.

Ezek. 20:11-13 — “And I gave them My statutes, and shewed them My judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.  Moreover also I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.  But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness: they walked not in My statutes, and they despised My judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and My Sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out My fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.”

   Here we see that the deeds of the descendants of Jacob were even less commendable in the wilderness than they were in Egypt.

Ezek. 20:14-28 — “But I wrought for My name’s sake, that It should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.  Yet also I lifted up My hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; because they despised My judgments, and walked not in My statutes, but polluted My Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

Nevertheless Mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.  But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: I am the Lord your God; walk in My statutes, and keep My judgments, and do them; and hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

Notwithstanding the children rebelled against Me: they walked not in My statutes, neither kpt My judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted My Sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out My fury upon them, to accomplish My anger against them in the wilderness.  Nevertheless I withdrew Mine hand, and wrought for My name’s sake, that It should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

I lifted up Mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; because they had not executed My judgments; but had despised My statutes, and had polluted My Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.  Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; and I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord.

Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed Me, in that they have committed a trespass against Me.  For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up Mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drik offerings.”

   They were unfaithful in Egypt, in the wilderness, and in the promised land.  We shall now read of the results.

Ezek. 20:29-36 — “Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go?  And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.  Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers?  and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?  For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel?  As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.  And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say,

We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.  As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: and I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.  And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.  Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.”

   On one hand we see the reasons for elevating the Hebrew host from Pharaoh’s slaves to God’s priests, prophets, and kings.  On the other hand we see their scattering throughout all the nations.  Next we behold God’s promises of their gathering out of the countries in which they are scattered.  This He promises to do with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm.

Ezek. 20:37 — “And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.”

   This verse is somewhat involved and needs to be elucidated with the help of another scripture.  Let us turn to Leviticus.

   “And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.” Lev. 27:32.

   To determine the Lord’s part, the tithe, the Lord’s lambs, goats, or sheep, were made to pass under the rod.  Each tenth then was taken and set aside for the Lord.  The statement of Ezekiel twenty, verse thirty-seven, “to pass under the rod,” therefore, means to separate His very elect from among the multitude, from among the “tares,” (Matt. 13:30) or from among the “bad fish” (Matt. 13:47, 48).  And being thus separated, they are counted.  So it is that the 144,000 (Rev. 7:3-8; 14:1) are a separate and numbered company.

   Now we see that Ezekiel twenty contains a prophetic history from the time of their sojourn in Egypt to the time of the sealing of the 144,000, and of the gathering of the people.

   When God causes His people to thus pass under the rod, He will then bring them into the bond of “the covenant which He made with Abraham, and of His oath unto Isaac; and hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.” 1 Chron. 16:16-18.

   The promises which they failed to realize, the Lord reassures that He will now let His people have them.

Ezek. 20:38 — “And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.”

   Here we are plainly told that only the elect will He bring “into the bond of the covenant.”  Them only will He bring into the land of Israel.  The sinners (tares, bad fish or goats) that are now among God’s people shall be taken out and be no more.

   “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a net, saith the Lord, “that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.  So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Matt. 13:47-50.  The separation, the Judgment for the Living, you note, brings the end of the world.

Ezek. 20:39 — “As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto Me: but pollute ye My holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.”

   God has now made clear His “clean work” which He is to do, both for the penitent and for the impenitent.  It is now up to them to decide whether to serve Him or to serve their idols — they are now not making their decision ignorantly.  If they wish to perish they may continue to serve their idols.

Ezek. 20:40, 41 — “For in Mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve Me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.  I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.”

   All these things, you see, take place in the sight of the heathen.

Ezek. 20:42-44 — “And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up Mine hand to give it to your fathers.   And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.  And ye shall know that I am the Lord when I have wrought with you for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God.”

   These things God does for His people, not because they are deserving, but for His name’s sake, because His promise cannot fail.  The Kingdom of God, you see, does not begin in heaven, but on earth.  And the Kingdom, you now see, is not to be made up of ghosts, but of living human beings, of saints, not a sinner among them.

   Yes, the Eden that was lost is to be restored.  In fact, the Word plainly declares that Elias must first come and restore all things (Mark 9:12).  As Eden was a real home at the beginning occupied by real human beings so shall it be again.

   The remaining verses of Ezekiel twenty take up another parable.  But as time will not permit us to go into it, we shall bring our study to a close.  First, though, let it be noticed that the remaining verses of this chapter, and also chapter 21 have, with this light on hand, become self-explanatory, and you can study them at your leisure.  Verse 27 of chapter 21 though, I may touch on now.

Ezek. 21:27 — “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until He comes Whose right it is; and I will give it Him.”

   In these chapters are brought to view both the house of Israel and the house of Judah.  In this verse God plainly declares that He was to make three overturnings, and that after that the Kingdom was to be no more until “He comes Whose right it is”; that is, after the three overturnings, He “Whose right it is” shall come and the Kingdom shall be restored.

   The first overturning took place when Assyria overturned the house of Israel, the ten-tribe kingdom; the second overturning took place when the king of Babylon overturned the house of Judah, the two-tribe kingdom; and the third overturning took place when Titus in 70 A.D. destroyed Jerusalem.  Thus it is seen that we are now living in the period after the third overturning, the period in which “He Whose right it is,” is to come and set up His Kingdom.

   The very fact that Inspiration has now unfolded these prophecies, and has brought them to the attention of the church, leads us to know for a certainty that the time for the restoration of the Kingdom is at hand; that we are now in the sealing time of the 144,000; and that if we are faithful we shall be among them, and stand with the Lamb on Mount Zion.

   This, Brother, Sister, is the Lord’s Own answer to you.

   Your duty is now to accept it if you wish life forevermore.  Let not the enemy of Truth bring doubts to your mind, and let no one talk you out of this Truth for the Devil will not stand idly by.  He will do all to overthrow you.  Check up again and again and see that the Bible teaches this Truth so that you be able to hold your own.  You cannot afford to lose out this late in the day.

His special blessing accompanies the labors of men of action; men who will not be swerved from the right line of duty, but who with divine energy will inquire, ‘Who is on the Lord’s side?’  men who will not stop merely with the inquiry, but who will demand that those who choose to identify themselves with the people of God shall step forward and reveal unmistakably their allegiance to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Such men make their wills and plans subordinate to the law of God.  For love of Him, they count not their lives dear unto themselves.  Their work is to catch the light from the Word, and let it shine forth to the world in clear, steady rays.  Fidelity to God is their motto.” — Prophets and Kings, pg. 148.   (Timely Greetings, Vol. 2, No. 1 p.2 -12)

Striving to be Part of the Number

In Review and Herald we read —

“Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand. And let us do all that we can to help others to gain heaven.”—The Review and Herald, March 9, 1905. 

And the Elijah message also makes very important statements about this group —

“It is the intention of this book to reveal the truth of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation 7..”(Preface of SRod, vol. 1)

 “Some day this subject must be understood, for Inspiration makes no useless statements, and it cannot be in the Bible for a trinket.  It must be understood before the number (144,000) is made or it would be of no value.  When understood, it will guide the feet of the 144,000 in the straight path just as the first, second, and third angel’s messages have led thousands of souls to Christ.” (SRod, vol. 1, p.14)

“It has been said by some that it matters not whether one understands the subject of the 144,000 or not, so long as he does right.  This is certainly true if we DO RIGHT, but how do we know whether we do right or not, except we understand Bible doctrines? How can we know whether we keep the right Sabbath, or belong to the right church, unless we understand that doctrine?

Why is it important to understand Daniel 7, the beast and his image, and many other Bible prophecies?  If we do not understand the subject of the 144,000, we may not be sealed, for it would be worthless to understand it after the sealing, just as it would be of no value to understand the beast and his image after his work on earth is finished.” (SRod, vol. 1, p.14-15)

It is clear by both the message of the Spirit of Prophecy and the Lord’s Rod that we should and indeed MUST know about and strive to be a part of the 144,000. The words like “strive with all power God has given us” and “It must be understood” are straight clear injunctions from the Lord to do something.

What we would like to do is show some specifics in our “striving”  in the following examples.

Strivers —

Mark and Mary are long time SDA members. This Sabbath Mary was to bring a fruit salad to the church lunch. As they begin their drive to church Mary suddenly remembers she forgot to prepare the salad and bring it. She inquires of Mark, “should we stop by the grocery store on our way and pick one up?” Mark replies, “No way dear! The Lord told us not to buy and sell during the Sabbath, Nehemiah shows that clearly.”

Non-Strivers —

Joe and Becky also had the same experience. But after Becky inquired of Joe to stop and buy the fruit salad, Joe said, “yeah dear, I think that would be ok, after all the Lord knows our hearts are right and He understands.” They pull over and buy the salad on the Sabbath. 

“In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.

There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the Sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?

Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath. And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.

So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath. And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.” (Nehemiah 13:15-22)

Strivers —

After church, Tom runs into a Paul fellow member. Paul mentions that this coming Wednesday evening he would like Tom to try and come to his home for a study on prophecy (Revelation chapter 17 and 18). Tom readily accepts as he has been praying to the Lord that he wants to know of the prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. He figures that is an answer to his prayers. Although he had scheduled another appointment with a couple of friends to discuss a local residential ruling on their housing community, he makes the decision to call them and postpone it. The things of the Lord come first, as he seeks first the kingdom through the Lord’s word.

Non-Strivers —

Richard also runs into Paul after church with the same proposal. But Richard briefly thinks about it then says, “No not this time Paul, I have scheduled a housing community meeting with some friends that evening.” Richard has never prayed and inquired of the Lord to know more of His word or prophecies. He is satisfied in his spiritual attainments.

“Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.” (Luke 14:16-20)

“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Rev. 3:17-18)

Strivers —

Diane is a young woman. She always tries to be in church before the service begins. When she goes there she remembers that the Lord’s word says —

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matt: 18:20)

Therefore she dresses very modest, her skirt below the knees, her blouse high cut around her neck, her shoes not very high-heeled. Her Bible in her hand, she comes before the Lord with respect and honor in His house. She realizes He sees her.

Non- Strivers —

Beverly is also a young woman. However she may or may not be on time, her church record is 50-50. Half the time she arrives at or a little after the  service begins. Most of the time her dress is short skirts and high heels. In the summer when it’s warm she’ll have a low-cut blouse on as well. A couple of years ago she remembers that  this “fanatic” who said he was a “Shepherd’s Rod believer” warned her that she should dress more appropriate for church. What a goof ball she thought at the time, for the Lord accepts us anyway we come , He cares not about these minor things.

“..them that honor Me I will honor, and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” (1 Sam. 2:30)

 

“While you are devoting precious time to the study of dress, the inward adorning is neglected; there is no growth in grace. Instead of becoming more heavenly-minded, you are becoming more and more earthly-minded. Foolish and hurtful lusts, groveling appetites, becloud your sense of sacred things. Why will not everyone who professes to love Jesus flee from these soul-destroying indulgences! The world is crazy after show and fashion and pleasure. Licentiousness is steadily and fearfully on the increase. Why will not Christians be true to their high profession!

Christ is ashamed of His professed followers. Wherein do we bear any resemblance to Him? Wherein does our dress conform to the Bible requirements? I do not want the sins of the people upon me, and I will give the trumpet a certain sound. For years I have borne a plain and decided testimony upon this subject, in print and upon the speaker’s stand. I have not shunned to declare the whole counsel of God. I must be clear of the blood of all. The fact that worldliness and pride bear almost universal sway is no excuse for one Christian to do as others do. God has said: “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil.”

Do not, my sisters, trifle longer with your own souls and with God. I have been shown that the main cause of your backsliding is your love of dress. This leads to the neglect of grave responsibilities, and you find yourselves with scarcely a spark of the love of God in your hearts. Without delay, renounce the cause of your backsliding, because it is sin against your own soul and against God.

Be not hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Fashion is deteriorating the intellect and eating out the spirituality of our people. Obedience to fashion is pervading our Seventh-day Adventist churches and is doing more than any other power to separate our people from God. I have been shown that our church rules are very deficient. All exhibitions of pride in dress, which is forbidden in the word of God, should be sufficient reason for church discipline.

If there is a continuance, in face of warnings and appeals and entreaties, to still follow the perverse will, it may be regarded as proof that the heart is in no way assimilated to Christ. Self, and only self, is the object of adoration, and one such professed Christian will lead many away from God.

There is a terrible sin upon us as a people, that we have permitted our church members to dress in a manner inconsistent with their faith. We must arise at once and close the door against the allurements of fashion. Unless we do this, our churches will become demoralized.” (Testimonies, vol. 4, p.647-648)

Strivers —

Manuel has just walked out of church, as he walks to his car he is approached by a man who identifies himself as Ronald. Ronald briefly says he has a message from the Lord that may bless him and he hands him a few Tracts. While this is going on another SDA member sees what is happening and as Ronald leaves, he walks over to Manuel and tells him, “Brother be careful that material you just got is from the Shepherd’s Rod people, I would throw it away. It’s error and has been rejected by our church leaders.”

Manuel responds, “My brother, we are counselled as follows”, then goes into his car and brings out a folder of some SOP material and hands him the following —

“Those who allow prejudice to bar the mind against the reception of truth cannot receive the divine enlightenment. Yet, when a view of Scripture is presented, many do not ask, Is it true–in harmony with God’s word? but, By whom is it advocated? and unless it comes through the very channel that pleases them, they do not accept it. So thoroughly satisfied are they with their own ideas that they will not examine the Scripture evidence with a desire to learn, but refuse to be interested, merely because of their prejudices.

The Lord often works where we least expect Him; He surprises us by revealing His power through instruments of His own choice, while He passes by the men to whom we have looked as those through whom light should come. God desires us to receive the truth upon its own merits–because it is truth.”(Testimonies to Minsters, p.106-107) 

Non-Strivers —–

Jerry has just experienced the same thing from Ronald, and after the SDA member warns him, he says, “Oh ok, yeah if this has been rejected by our church leaders who know what is right for us, I will indeed throw it away, thanks so much my brother!”  He then walks over to the trash can and throws it away.

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (Jer. 17:5)

Ok, now we’ve looked at a few examples of strivers vs. non-strivers, next we’ll look at why we must strive. 

In the very beginning of God’s worldwide judgments upon His people , we go back to the days of Noah. Despite the fact that possibly well over a million people lived on the earth at that time, how many were saved? Eight.  Was that God’s will? Of course not but that is all who would respond to the messages of warning given day after day after day by Noah.

In the time of Lot, God’s judgments fell upon the people and how many were saved from them? Three. Abraham asked if God would spare the judgments if only ten innocent people were in the city. God said yes but ultimately there were not ten people. Only Lot and his wife (who later died as a pillar of salt) and their two daughters survived.

When the great multitude came out of Egypt with Moses, after rejecting God’s  counsel again and again in the desert, how many over the age of 20, from the possibly million or more, made it to the kingdom (Israel) ? Two –Joshua and Caleb. 

With the above three important historic examples of God’s judgments upon His people on a mass scale, let us look at Rev. 7.

“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” (Rev. 7:1-4)

We know from both the Spirit of Prophecy writings and the Elijah message that the Seventh-day Adventist church is the “Israel of today”.

“In order to be purified and to remain pure, Seventh-day Adventists must have the Holy Spirit in their hearts and in their homes. The Lord has given me light that when the Israel of today humble themselves before Him, and cleanse the soul-temple from all defilement, He will hear their prayers in behalf of the sick and will bless in the use of His remedies for disease. When in faith the human agent does all he can to combat disease, using the simple methods of treatment that God has provided, his efforts will be blessed of God.” (Testimonies, vol. 9, p.164) 

Further we know that God has always had one church movement at a time. Thus our SDA church is that movement today and His people and ALL the tribes (descendants through bloodline –decimated down through time) exist within her. Obviously to make the kingdom we must be sealed to stand in the great and dreadful day of the Lord. So who will be sealed in our church?  The  144,000. 

Yes to some this sounds outrageous, unbelievable. Yet as shown God is not a respecter of men and their majority. With nearly 20 million SDA members worldwide right now, does 144,000 sound in out of line with those three solemn judgments He has done before?

Again, the word says that God truly wants all to be saved just like the whole world in Noah’s day, but sad to say so many don’t care about any warnings nor even to walk upright with Him. In today’s terms, few want to “sup” with Him daily (Rev. 3:20).

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” ( 2 Peter 3:9)

Further supporting the fact that in that church judgment , it will indeed be solemn , we read —

“I have tried in the fear of God to set before His people their danger and their sins, and have endeavored, to the best of my feeble powers, to arouse them. I have stated startling things, which, if they had believed, would have caused them distress and terror, and led them to zeal in repenting of their sins and iniquities. I have stated before them that, from what was shown me, but a small number of those now professing to believe the truth would eventually be saved–not because they could not be saved, but because they would not be saved in God’s own appointed way.

The way marked out by our divine Lord is too narrow and the gate too strait to admit them while grasping the world or while cherishing selfishness or sin of any kind. There is no room for these things; and yet there are but few who will consent to part with them, that they may pass the narrow way and enter the strait gate.” (Testimonies, vol. 2, p.445-446)

In closing we ask — What is God’s appointed way for us Seventh-day Adventists?

“Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand. And let us do all that we can to help others to gain heaven.”

International Hierarchy

“And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please.” (Luke 4:5-6)

“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (John 18:36)

So clearly we know that right now, today, the world’s kingdoms belong to the enemy of souls–Satan. It has been so ever since the great deceiver tricked our first parents in that beautiful garden. However, soon the tables will turn as the following prophecy will take place —

“And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” (Daniel 11:45, 12:1)

This of course is describing the great “King of the North” (the current ruler of the Holy land and the world’s affairs)  being defeated as our King stands up and delivers his final army, the 144,000, and then the Great Multitude (Rev. 7).

It shall then be war- all-out spiritual war. 

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”(Ephesians 6:11-12)

There is an old adage that says — “Know thy enemy”. Let us now look at how the Satanic world is set-up today. There is a journalist who specializes in the globalist world framework (aka New World Order) named Jake Morphonio (Blackstone Intelligence) who produced a most knowledgeable study of the international hierarchy. We have blended his study with our knowledge from the Scriptures and world interactions.

The Word says that we, the USA would be lamb like but then speak like a dragon (Rev. 13:11) and unfortunately, though not completely yet, we are already speaking like a dragon–lying, murdering, warring, cheating,  stealing through our connections to the international hierarchy run by the Rothschilds and a few other mega rich families of the world.

Let us look at how our current world is run, its leaders, structures and purposes. The world that we do not often see yet it is there, doing all its diabolical deeds. We would like to break it down, so that by God’s grace soon this hierarchy will be exposed and brought down by His army, the 144,000.

The nature of the following hierarchy is the same as its leader–Satan. The continual breaking of God’s commandments, with its lust and greed, is the motivation.

Top Level —

Banking cartel–Rothschild led , World’s Banking system, Multi-National Corporations, Governments

This is the brains and rulers of the hierarchy. Their purpose is for world domination, centralized power and control via money, politics and armament. Yet we know from Scripture that their plans shall fail. The collapse comes when the middle east world war happens and Israel is utterly devastated (Zeph. 2:1-5 and Tract 14, p.22) and subsequently Daniel 11:45, 12:1 takes place. Remember Israel is controlled by Rothschild’s Zionist government.

Second Level — 

Policy implementation Round Table groups –Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg group, United Nations (though not fully), etc.

These are implementation arms of the Banking cartel. They actually get the policies into action from the ruling families. Formulating the World Order directions to the next level down. A supremely important job of the commissions is filter down to close liaisons, Top Level opinions and slanted “truth” that  the main stream media publishes all around the world. The Top Level own nearly all the main media companies today. BBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. thus they are able to sway public opinion.

Many of you may remember two prime examples of fake news and agenda operations. The story of Iraq killing babies in incubators, with the sobbing  girl telling her “witness” story–fake!  The media telling the world that Saddam Hussein had “weapons of mass destruction” so that the USA needed to invade this rogue nation–fake! All such media operations have continued to this day. The 9th Commandment blatantly violated again and again.

Third Level —

Shadow Governments — AKA  Deep State international personnel. State Department Bureaucrats, Corrupt Politicians, Lobbyists,  Military Industrial Complex (Boeing, Northrup-Grumman, GE, General Dynamics, Raytheon,  etc).

President Trump famously had the slogan “Drain the swamp” during his presidential campaign. He was referring to this part of the government, the embedded bureaucrats and personnel whose orders are from the  Commissions (second level). As Jake sagely observed, these are often “permanent” employees who are not elected and stay on indefinitely and unabated to carry on their orders from the levels above.

Fourth Level —

Intelligence Groups and militias — CIA, the enforcement arm of the Commissions.  Israel’s Mossad (their top central intelligence agency). Para-military groups, Mercenaries, NGO’s, Private Intelligence groups.

These groups are the dirty deed workers, they take over when the political goals are rejected by the host countries. They infiltrate the host country and begin their plans to force implementation of the goals set by the Top Level. Think Iraq, think Libya, think Syria, think Ukraine and on and on. These were not hap-hazard uprisings by loose knitted outfits, oh no, it was all staged and planned under ground.

There may be oil, gold, land ,strategic advantages, etc, that the Globalists want and if the host country does not “play ball” the pit bulls are sent out. The current situation in Venezuela is a perfect example. This country is sitting on one of the greatest known world reserves of Gold not to mention the large oil reserves they have possessed for a long time. There is no doubt that the uprisings there now are formulated by the Fourth Level.

Ok, this is a brief overview of Satan’s current world system. These workers of iniquity are moving towards a one world government, yet, little do they know all these schemes will very soon come to naught.

There is so much evil today produced by this system, not only greed and lust, but murder, stealing, child pedophilia (which is BIG among the elites), medicine control (ie. vaccinations) and on and on. The Top Level is trying to confederate the nations (AKA New World order) yet God’s word already condemns their ideas–

“Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. (Isaiah 8:9-10)

The above world system, is being countered by what is called the eastern block , let us read —

“Now the statement “Take counsel together, and it shall come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us,” plainly says what I tried to tell you — that the nations, including the churches, have left Immanuel, “God with us,” out of their plans, that what they are trying to do they are doing on their own intiative and resources for the words “God is with us” coming from one who is not with the assemblies of the people, clearly implies that Immanuel is not with them, and that therefore their work shall come to naught.

   From these scriptures it is seen that the current events brought about by the two opposing blocks, the east and the west, are not going to work out according to human planning, that the plans made by the confederation of nations and people are to come to naught except they consult God and take Him into partnership. (TG, vol. 2, no.41, p.19-20)

The King of the North (Top Level –specifically the Rothschilds) is upset right now, no doubt about it. Their plan was to run over Syria just like Iraq, Libya and Ukraine recently. The Fourth Level went into Syria and set up ISIS as their militia to overturn the country. But Russia stepped in to thwart the Globalists plans. Russia is finally onto the Globalists plans and they see their very survival at stake should they not take action.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1)

Right now we have two opposing blocks forming for the final war over Israel. Mainly, the USA, England, France, Germany, Australia, Canada and a majority of NATO countries. And the opposing bloc — Russia, China, Iran, Turkey,  Syria along with some former Soviet Union nation states.

This of course is all God’s workings to get that final “gigantic war” spoken of in  the following prophecies to come to pass —

“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.” (Zech. 14:1-3)

“Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up. Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.” (Zeph. 2:1-5)

Once this last gigantic war happens then we are told by the message the following —

“…while the powers of earth are engulfed in a gigantic war, the wicked in the church shall be cut off, no more to pass through her.” (Tract 14, p.22)

Thus the war produces the Lord’s “battle-ax”, the 144,000 (Jer. 51:20). With this army the Lord’s last day Gospel kingdom will be set up in Israel (not to be confused with a world’s secular kingdom), which heretofore was controlled by the Top Level. The tables turn FINALLY. The Lord’s people are no longer patsies, Joel describes the scene —

“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for He is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?” (Joel 2:1-11)

The current Satanic world system will soon crash and the Lord’s earthly kingdom shall appear in Israel. The hierarchy will be exposed for what it is–Satan’s scheme to perish souls from the planet. The whole planet will have one last chance at redemption and will see God’s army do battle with Satan’s army, the fighters of His truth. What side will we be on? Let’s make preparations today not tomorrow.

Idols in the Midst

The word Idol conjures up many things. Some think of pop star Idols like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, etc. Others think of Hollywood stars such as Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, etc.

Yet we as Kingdom seekers should know that the Word tells us of our correct understanding of Idols and what we must not do in following them. Let us read–

Isa. 2:17-20 — “And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.  And the idols He shall utterly abolish.  And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.  In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats.”

   What idols are to be abolished? — Idols that walk.  They are, therefore, men whom the people idolize.  They, and those who idolize them will run into “the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth.”  Only those that cast out the idols shall be spared.  In these verses three kinds of idols are mentioned: (1) works of men’s hands, (2) men that are revered, (3) gold and the silver that are worshipped.  These shall be abolished, there are to be idols no more.

They and their worshipers are;

Isa. 2:21 — “To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.”

   If we do not now voluntarily cast out all our idols, we shall be forced to cast them later, but what good will it do us then? (Timely Greeting, vol.1, no.5, p.15)

Ah, so we see that these Idols in our midst are religious folk. They are the ones that should concern us. Once we are “born again” we should already have gotten rid of the world’s Idols. and thus our Idols come in holy garbs leading us astray.

In addition, we see that money and possessions can be an Idol if we are not careful. In this post we’d like to focus on man Idols, those among us who are now leading us Seventh-day Adventists astray, even as they speak “smooth things” to our itchy ears.

The following men are well-known in our midst. They have been around for a long time, plying their trade well and have gathered a very large following among us. Not in any particular order.

No. 1 —  Stephen Bohr

Of all the following Idols in our midst this man stands out significantly for his work done recently on a YouTube series. As many who are readers of this blog know , our goal is enlightening God’s remnant people about the final message of Elijah (Mal. 4:5 and Micah 6:9). But this man has decided to hinder and block, if at all possible, this message.

He hired a man called “Ismael Rodriguez” who was a former Davidian Seventh-day Adventist. He invited him to his organizational compounds in Fresno, California to produce the series called “Theological Analysis of the Davidian Movement”. It was a 10 part video presentation filmed at Bohr’s headquarters.

Have you ever been involved in a certain field, or specialty, where you know it inside and out, all of its parts, specifics and ways? Then along comes someone who thinks they know it, yet they have little clue about it. You sit in amazement and wonder at their lack of knowledge. This is the situation with Bohr’s endeavor when he hired a woefully inept ex-spokesman for the Davidian movement–Ismael Rodriguez. But only those who are well grounded in the teachings would know this as Rodriguez is skillful in manipulation and twisting the Lord’s Rod. He has been doing this for decades now and gets paid nicely (just look at the expensive Rolex watch in his presentations).

Into the Viper’s Den (Part 1 of 10)

This is not all that Bohr is doing to lead astray, he is also well-known for his private interpretations, such as his idea that the 24 elders in Rev. 4 are from other planets and not redeemed as the Word says. We did a post about this —

We are often amazed, and have posted on this before. The Lord CRIES unto us to hear His Rod (Micah 6:9) and yet men like Bohr warn us not to!

To summarize, this is one of the leading Idols among us today. Those that follow this man may soon find disaster. He has rejected the message of the hour and even worse, unlike the others to follow, stands in the way to hinder it.

“Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”(Luke 11:52)

 

No.2 — Walter Veith

Walter Veith is a long time teacher. His former profession was as a professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He taught evolution until he discovered holes in it and later embraced  the  Biblical creationist doctrine and became a Seventh-day Adventist.

Known for his folksy “ah shucks” laid back professor style, Veith has developed a big following among the SDA. His YouTube video presentations on a myriad of Bible subjects are very popular and widely viewed.  Veith has a particular expert knowledge of the Catholic history and Jesuit doctrine.

However, nevertheless he continues to steer people towards a false end time scenario and Biblical prophecies. He does not teach of the “sudden coming” of our Lord to His remnant SDA church for the beginning judgment for the living on earth.

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” ( 1 Peter 4:17)

“The class who do not feel grieved over their own spiritual declension, nor mourn over the sins of
others, will be left without the seal of God. The Lord commissions His messengers, the men with
slaughtering weapons in their hands: “Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.” 

Here we see that the church–the Lord’s sanctuary–was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God’s power as in former days.

Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus “Peace and safety” is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together.”(Testimonies, vol. 5 p. 211)

He has almost an obsession with the Catholics and Jesuits, teaching that they are the real people to fear right now and that we should be ready for their end time move against God’s remnant church. Thus no one is warned that our church will be purified FIRST before any attempts of such damage comes to God’s people via opposers of His Truth.

 

No. 3 — Andrew and Hilari Henriques

Of all the SDA YouTube sites, this one ranks near the highest for most watched. This couple has made a career of calling out the sins of the Seventh-day Adventist church. We as present truth believers know that we are to “sigh and cry” for all the sins done in the church. Of highlighting and explaining our church short-comings, they do a thorough job we admit. Their YouTube site is called ProphesyAgainTV.

“The day of God’s vengeance is just upon us. The seal of God will be placed upon the foreheads of
those only who sigh and cry for the abominations done in the land.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p.212) 

“Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those “that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done” in the church.” (Testimonies, vol. 3, p.267)

However, let us never forget that Satan tries to be an “angel of light” in order to snag us and trip us up. This couple’s ministry is a perfect example. Why do we say this? Because they teach that the SDA church is Babylon and that we must come out of her. In other words, the good work of calling out the sins is negated by the terrible work of teaching that we must come out of the church in order not to be a part of the guilt within her. Exactly opposite of the Lord’s Rod message.

The final message of the Lord (Mal. 4:5) teaches us to sigh and cry for all the church sins, and our own sins BUT to stay in her for her own sake and to reach out and try to help her–not abandoned her!

“It matters not what they may do to us, we would rather die than to disobey the commandment of the Lord. The SDA church is not Babylon. If it were we would have been duty bound to come out, but since it is not, we have no place to go. Consequently, we shall stay in “Jerusalem” though it may be filled with thieves..”(Sym. Code, vol. 1, no. 14, p.9)

This couple’s ministry is indeed a sneaky attempt to steer away God’s people from their end time duty–work for the members and stay in her until that last day. They are indeed idolized by many Seventh-day Adventists.

No. 4 — Doug Batchelor

This man is so widely followed among us SDA that he is almost without peer. His organization –Amazing Facts, is a long time SDA ministry started by his predecessor Joe Crews. We have posted several times about Doug and his group.

Very knowledgeable, particularly about the Sabbath and Bible history. As mentioned before yours truly really appreciated his Sabbath knowledge when I first came into the SDA church back in early 2009. But sad to say Amazing Facts has stumbled big time in keeping up with the Lord’s unrolling scroll of Truth and prophecy.

His many YouTube videos cover many Biblical topics, yet nothing about the next move of our King. Just as with the others Doug shows little knowledge of the true “next” coming. Amazing Facts continues to prepare the people for the Lord’s coming in the clouds, when the Lord through His Elijah message says be ready for His “sudden coming” to His church first (Mal. 3:1-5).

But perhaps the most disturbing about  Doug and his organization is their CONTINUAL asking and begging for money. Their emails, videos , newsletters make obvious and repetitive requests to be a “partner” in “Gods’ work”.  This is no better than the pay for blessings TV pastors.  In fact it is much worse because we are the last of the seven churches listed in Revelation, yet leaders like DB are stealthy steering us away from the Lord’s plan to redeem us via His church purification.

Kenneth has been around a long time with the SDA. But there is no better example of one who has turned the Gospel into a money-making business. Just go on his ministry site and behold the vast amount of material he sells. A “complete set” of “The Revelation of Jesus Christ Series” for just –220.00! And the list goes on and on, music sales, daily devotionals, etc, etc. all for “on sale” prices.

“Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.” (Ezek. 34:3-4)

“Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;”(1  Peter 5:2)

Cox is similar to Doug Batchelor, “we need your money to do God’s work” over and over again. He specializes in teaching Daniel and Revelation subjects yet is completely void of the Lord’s Elijah message teachings, which specifically deals with these VERY important prophecies. 

One thing is common throughout these Idols, they teach a false end time event timeline. All teach that we should beware of the coming Sunday Law, as it is right around the corner and we SDA will be tried severely for our faith. False. The Lord’s final message teaches us, just as Elijah did, that we must be warned that we are about to be visited by the Lord. Thus many SDA will not even see this Sunday law.

“Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Malachi 3:1-5)

In closing my brethren, the Lord has warned us that Idols in our midst, must be avoided. He has sent ONE LAST PROPHET to us His Seventh-day Adventist church. These men have rejected this prophet and his words. Let that not be said of us.

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Esau or Jacob – Which?

PARADE OF PARADES! BEHOLD IT PASS:

  • First
  • The millions of escorting angels who ministered to the redeemed in all ages.
  • Second
  • Moses, the first inspired penman, general and leader peerless among men, clothed in white and crowned with a glittering golden crown, leading the van of the resurrected, themselves wearing white robes and golden crowns.
  • Third
  • Abel, first among martyrs, leading the martyred host of the ages, all clad in glorious white robes with borders of red.
  • Fourth
  • Enoch, his head encircled with a dazzling white wreath surmounted with a lovely crown brighter than the sun, and upon his arm a glorious palm; and following him a great multitude, all clothed in pure white robes, with palms in their hands and golden crowns on their heads.
  • Fifth
  • Elijah the faithful, arrayed in a glorious white mantle from his shoulders to his feet, leading the 144,000, a royal priesthood, all, like himself, attired in glorious white mantles.

  • The Adams, the “sons of God,” from the worlds of God’s universe, with father Adam in the van.

Throughout the infinite expanse of eternity never before has heaven beheld and never again will it behold the like – a procession supernal!

   Brother, Sister, it is ours to choose either the habiliments of the saved or the cerements of the lost; either to walk with the ransomed in white or lie down with the damned in black.

   If it be the latter — God forbid that it should be — then the dreadful price must be, not the first death alone, but also the second death, from which there is no release.

   Yes, which will it be — shrieking lamentations in the lake of unquenchable fire, or rapturous songs at the fount of unquenchable joy? Now, at the last hour you will have to choose either the company of —

ESAU OR JACOB-WHICH?

“And Isaac entreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.  And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus?  And she went to enquire of the Lord. And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels;  and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.  And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.  And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.  And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob.” Gen. 25:21-26.

   In the preternatural birth and the lives of Esau and Jacob, there is unmistakable Divine design and typology.  The strange anomaly of this family’s experience obviously dramatized in miniature an experience through which God’s church would one day pass.   Rebekah herself was made well aware of this fact when “the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people, and the elder shall serve the younger.” Gen. 25:23.

 What is the typology in this throbbing life drama? — Basically that which stands forth in Paul’s interpretation of the equally intense drama of Hagar and Ishmael, Sarah and Isaac.  Inspiration unveils the fact that the former pair represent the Old Testament Church and its members, the Jews; and that the latter pair represent the New Testament Church and its members, the Christians (Gal. 4:22-31).

   Similarly, though in another phase, Rebekah also represents the church, while Esau and Jacob represent her offspring, the laity.  And since the two struggled within the mother before they were born (delivered), the important lesson is that while the church is travailing with her children just before they are delivered, receive the second birth (John 3:3) and are led into the kingdom, they are to struggle within.  So, Rebekah’s carrying two sons makes known that the church is carrying within her two classes of people — Esaus and Jacobs.

   “There are two opposing influences,” affirms Inspiration, “continually exerted on the members of the church.  One influence is working for the purification of the church, and the other for the corrupting of the people of God.” — Testimonies To Ministers, p. 46.

   The manner in which Esau and Jacob were born — Jacob’s following Esau ahold of his heel — has very obvious significance: Esau’s leading makes him a type of leaders possessing his character, and Jacob’s following makes him a type of followers possessing his character.  This analogy unerringly signifies, too, that the one represents a class which precedes the other in church fellowship. Broadly speaking, therefore, they together represent candidates for a successor ministry and laity respectively.

   There is also typical significance in the further fact that Esau was born hairy and Jacob smooth.  This outstanding external unlikeness obviously imports some kind of outstanding visible identification of the two classes typified.

   God ordained the man to lead and the woman to follow, and as such He created the man hairy and the woman smooth.  These Divine marks of distinction reveal that Esau and the class which he represents possess the natural equipment for leadership, while Jacob and the class he represents do not.  Besides, being the first-born, Esau by birthright was to be the family’s priest.  Through him were to come the progenitors of the twelve tribes, the prophets the princes, and the kings of Israel, even the King of kings Himself, the Saviour of the world.

   But the desires, ambitions, and aims of Esau and Jacob, ran counter to their inherited positions.  Esau had no special interest in the part of the work which his birthright permitted, whereas Jacob coveted it.  Blocked, though, by the law of inheritance from possessing Esau’s part, Jacob in his inordinate longing for the birthright managed to purchase it at the opportune time.  Then in order to receive his father’s blessings, he consented to his mother’s conniving to obtain it through deceit.

   The tragic lesson is painfully conspicuous: The Esau class who attend the duties of their office less than its sanctity demands, indifferently let it slip from their hands into the eager reaching grasp of the Jacob class, who do veritably appreciate and prize its obligations, but who, not being natural-born leaders, must acquire the equipment for the holy office by passing through the disciplinary training of some soul-trying experience as foreshadowed by Jacob’s training while he was a fugitive from home. Thus in their providential lot, cast out of the church by their elder brethren, as was Jacob cast out of the home by his elder brother, because of their zeal in God’s service, they gain a training for the privileged work which is to be theirs.

   What an inestimable blessing the first-born, the present ministry, are losing!  Theirs is the matchless privilege of standing on Mt. Zion with the Lamb and of fathering forth the latter day subjects of the Kingdom, ushering the Kingdom itself, bringing the second advent of Christ, and finally leading the redeemed host into the heavenly Canaan, into the realms of faceless glory.  But they are about to lose out — tragedy of tragedies!

   For some tempting mess of pottage they let slip this sovereign privilege! Sadly, they are even now letting it slip away to the Jacob class, the faithful laity, the 144,000 future servants of God (Rev. 7:3; 5:10, Testimonies, Vol. 5, pp. 475, 476)

   “As Esau awoke to see the folly of his rash exchange when it was too late to recover his loss, so it will be in the day of God with those who have bartered their heirship to heaven for selfish gratifications.” — Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 182. (Read also Testimonies, Vol. 2, pp. 38, 39.)

   “Brethren,” years ago pleaded the Spirit of Truth with the first-born in warning them of their danger of losing their birth-right, “if you continue to be as idle, as worldly, as selfish as you have been, God will surely pass you by, and take those who are less self-caring, less ambitious for worldly honor, and who will not hesitate to go, as did their Master, without the camp, bearing the reproach.

The work will be given to those who will take it, those who prize it, who weave its principles into their every-day experience.  God will choose humble men, who are seeking to glorify his name and advance his cause rather than to honor and advance themselves.  He will raise up men who have not so much worldly wisdom, but who are connected with him, and who will seek strength and counsel from above.” — Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 461.

   “The call to this great and solemn work was presented to men of learning and position; had these been little in their own eyes, and trusted fully in the Lord, he would have honored them with bearing his standard in triumph to the victory….

   “God will work a work in our day that but few anticipate.  He will raise up and exalt among us those who are taught rather by the unction of his Spirit, than by the outward training of scientific institutions.”  — Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 82.

   “Here [Ezek. 9:5, 6] we see that the church — the Lord’s sanctuary — was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God.  The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light, and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God’s power as in former days.  Times have changed.  These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.  He is too merciful to visit his people in judgment.

Thus peace and safety is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins.  These dumb dogs, that would nor bark, are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God.  Men, maidens, and little children, all perish together.” — Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211.

   Now as this numerous-phased typology turns round to its next aspect, Esau and Jacob are seen in a further representation of two sinful classes: Esau, both by the color of his skin and by the significance of his name after it was changed from Esau to Edom; Jacob, by the meaning of his name before it was changed from Jacob to Israel.

   Singularly enough, as was the color of Esau’s skin red, so was the meaning of his new name, Edom.  And as he failed to appreciate and cherish the paternal gift, never fulfilling the meaning of his birth name (“he that finishes”), it is seen that his new name, unlike Jacob’s new name, signifies, not advancement, but rather failure to advance, going on unrestrained in his carnal ways — remaining in his inborn, “red,” character. Hence, the class of leaders which he typifies are to lose out, never to finish their God-appointed work, and never to be transformed from sinners to saints!  What a loss!

   Not so, though, with the Jacob class.  Just as their type, who diligently cared for the sheep, carefully tended to his business, and triumphantly overcame his covetous nature, had his name changed from Jacob (supplanter) to Israel (and overcomer and thus a Prince), so they, too, finally, triumphing over their own carnal nature, have their names changed from Jacobites to Israelites, from supplanters to overcomers, — from servants of self to servants of God, from common Christians in Laodicea to exalted princes on Mt. Zion.  Thus in their own right the antitypical Jacobites become antitypical Israelites, by acquisition of the priestly birthright they become finishers of the gospel work and as servants of God they stand on Mt. Zion with the Lamb. ( SRod Tract, p.24-31)

That “Other” Angel (Rev.18:1 — EW. P.277)

In Revelation 18:1  we read —

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”

And in Early Writings, page 277 —

“I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven, descending to the earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory.

The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844.

The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry. And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message.”

Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom.”

Let’s look at some Inspired references to gain more light on the powerful and full of glory angel message.

   There are several references that indicate what the fourth angel message is. Granted we don’t have the full understanding but we have a good solid idea. Starting with the above SOP reference. we see that this angel unites with the third angel. In other words this message in closely associated with that of the third angel message, which is basically a warning not to worship the Beast and his image (Rev. 14:9-11).

The message gives “power and force” to the third angel’s message and at the “right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry.”

It is worth noting that this fourth angel is called “mighty angel” and has “great power.” Ah, now let us zoom in now! Let use read this part again —

“This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom.”

The above SOP quote tells us an important fact — the 144,000 sealed servants of God from Rev. 7:1-4 give the fourth angel’s message! The Rod message confirms this fact–

“As a result of the purification of the church, the sealing of the 144,000, the servants of God, the earth is lightened with the glory of the angel (Rev. 18:1), with “the everlasting gospel” (Rev. 14:6).  God’s people are then called out of Babylon’s domain that they be not partakers of her sins (Rev. 18:4).  Then are they brought into a place where there are no sins, where the remnant keep the commandments of God, and where there is no fear of the plagues ever falling (Rev. 18:4).  And so chapter 18 begins after the sealing of the servants of God, and ends with the destruction of the woman, Babylon the Great.  This takes place after the saints have been called out and taken home.” (2 TG, no. 14, p.20)

 

“The eighteenth chapter is a continuation of the seventeenth, and so we shall study it also:

Rev. 18:1 — “And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”

   After what things? — After the scarlet-colored beast comes into being and while the woman, Babylon, is sitting upon him.  It is then that the earth is to be lightened with the glory of the angel, with the message of the hour.

Rev. 18:2-4 — “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

   A heavenly voice, the Spirit of Truth, is heard calling God’s people out of Babylon after the earth is lightened with the glory of the angel.  For God’s people to come out so that they be not partakers of her sins and receive not of her plagues, they must necessarily be called into a place that is free from sin, and thus be saved from Babylon’s plagues.  Consequently they go into a purified sinless church, and a land that is not in danger of the plagues.” (TG, Vol. 2, no. 18, p.23)

So we see that the 144,000 shall deliver the message with great power and fearlessly. We also see that this great final powerful message, which joins the third angel’s message is AFTER the church purification. So not only do we have the beginning time period of the fourth angel’s message but we notice that the end of it is when all God’s people have been called out of Babylon and placed into the kingdom “home”.

“To get the proper understanding of the third angel’s message we shall divide it into three periods: (1) Beginning of the proclamation of the true Sabbath, Rev. 14:6-11; (2) Reformation, and sealing of the 144,000, Rev. 7:1-8; (3) The Loud Cry, Rev. 18:1.” (SRod, vol. 1, p.32)

Once again we notice the timing of the fourth angel is the –Loud Cry period. 

 “If we would receive the light of the glorious angel that shall lighten the earth with his glory, let us see to it that our hearts are cleansed, emptied of self, and turned toward heaven, that they may be ready for the latter rain. Let us be obtaining a fitting up to join in the proclamation of the angel who shall lighten the earth with his glory.” (Signs of the Times, Aug. 1, 1892, par.14)

Below is a handy chart showing the Revelation chapter time periods. Again, we see that Rev. 18 fourth angel’s message begins in concurrence with the “time of trouble”, which can only start once the tares are removed from the church. Such a pure church will enrage Satan (Rev. 12: 15-17), thus the time of trouble comes upon the world.

“Flood” is the same as “water”, which means people (in the church) unconverted, whom Satan is using to cause the church to be carried away in a very quiet manner, so that no one would be suspicious of the great deception.  In this way he attempts to deceive the very elect (144,000) if it were possible.  Being impossible, Christ Himself interposes and delivers His people (those who sigh and cry for all the abominations in the church) and then makes an example of the others.

Rev. 12:16, “And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.”  The meaning is that they die, being buried in the earth, as in Num. 16:32, “And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.”  Thus, “the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Isa. 59:19, last part.  This will fulfill Matt. 13:29, 30:  “Let both the wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest.” 

The separation will mark the beginning of the harvest, which is the Loud Cry of the third angel’s message.  Rev. 18:1.  The Spirit of God is poured upon His people (those who escape the ruin), and the promise is, that it shall never depart from them.  Isa. 59:21, “As for Me, this is My covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and My words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and forever.”  Read “Isaiah the Gospel Prophet,” Volume 3, pages 43-49.

   As soon as the separation is finished, and Satan has lost out with his deceptive scheme, the church finds herself in a great conflict with the enemy.  Rev. 12:17, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed [those who are left], which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (The war against the woman is the blue law.)  (SRod, vol. 1, p.151-152)

This subject of the fourth angel’s message is deep and far-reaching and we’ve only touched a bit on it. Hopefully we’ll do further posts expanding more on this “great and glorious” message.

A Comparison of Revelation 12 Study

This week in our SDA Sabbath School lessons, Rev. 12 is discussed. The following is some of what our leaders said about it —

“The period of Satan’s persecution is mentioned twice in Revelation 12 in terms of 1,260 days/years (Rev. 12:6) and “a time and times and half a time” (Rev. 12:14, NKJV). Both time periods refer to the duration of the little horn’s persecuting activity mentioned in Daniel 7:23-25. In the Bible, prophetic days symbolize years. The time in history that fits this prophetic period is A.D. 538-1798, during which time the Roman Catholic church, as a church-state power, dominated the Western world until 1798, when Napolean’s General Berthier brought Rome’s oppressive power to an end, at least temporarily.

During this long period of persecution, the dragon spews flooding waters out of his mouth in order to destroy the woman. Waters represent peoples and nations (Rev. 17:15). Armies and nations were sent by Rome against God’s faithful people during this time. Near the end of this prophetic period, a friendly earth swallows the waters and saves the woman, providing a safe haven for her. This provision points to the refuge that America, with its religious freedom, supplied (Rev. 12:16).”

Notice that that Satan’s flood is described as using “Armies and nations”. Meaning this is what the “flood” symbolically means in the chapter. And the swallowing the flood means USA effectively saved the woman due to her religious freedom after 1798.

However let’s compare that to the following from the Rod message. Go through this and upon prayer and study and determine which is God’s truth and correct meaning of the chapter. Claim the promise of John 16:13 before reading.

“Our subject this afternoon is found in Revelation 12, and is illustrated on the following chart–(placed above)

Rev. 12:1-6 — “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: and she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red Dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the Dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”

We all somewhat agree, I know, that this woman of Revelation 12 is symbolical of the Church; that the Dragon is symbolical of Satan; and that the child represents Christ. But inasmuch as we may not agree as to whether the woman is symbolical of the Old Testament church or of the New or of both, it is essential that we study to see eye to eye.

Now, the questions naturally arise, If Christ is the One Who brought forth the Christian church, then how can she be His mother? And was not Christ born at least thirty years before the Christian church came into being? Is not the egg laid before the chicken is hatched? And finally, is it not true that if we blunder forth on an erroneous premise that we shall find ourselves further and further from the truth on the subject? — Most assuredly. Let us, then, make certain of the foundation upon which we build.

Since she was clothed with the sun before Christ’s birth, and before the Gospel came, then her sun-clothing must be the Bible, the Word of God that clothed her in the period of the prophets.

What is symbolized by the moon under her feet? — The fact that the moon of the heavens reflects the light from the sun to earth, the symbolical moon therefore being under the woman’s feet, and the sun shining directly upon her, not by reflection through the moon, denotes that her channel of light conveyance, the moon, was passing away, was no longer needed, that the sun itself, the source of her light, shining directly upon her, enveloped her with its bright rays.

What could the moon then symbolize but the period before the Bible came, the period before Moses, in which the Word of God did not shine directly on the people as It does to-day (for they had no Bible in those days), but was reflected on them by men of God, the medium, that is, the prophets before Moses never wrote down the messages of God but verbally passed them on.

Though this twelve-star-crowned woman symbolizes something in the Old Testament time, as we have already seen, she nevertheless is seen to symbolize something in the New Testament time. This we see from the fact that after the child was born, and after the Christian church came into being, the woman was given the wings of a great eagle, and was thus enabled to fly into the wilderness, there to be nourished “for a time, and times, and half a time.”

Moreover, her leaving the vineyard (her homeland — Palestine) and going into the wilderness (the lands of the Gentiles, for that is what wilderness symbolically stands for in contrast to a vineyard), again shows that she continued after her child was born.

Taking all these points into one common whole, they positively show that the woman is symbolical of God’s ever living Church for all times, and that she is His saving Truth, His true wife, the Truth that gave birth to Christ and that gives birth to all His “brethren” (His followers), “the remnant of her seed.” Rev. 12:17.

When the promise of the coming Saviour was made, it was then that the dragon learned that the Church was to give birth to the “man child,” and from then on he watched her closely, hoping to destroy the world’s Redeemer as soon as He was born. This he endeavored to accomplish through Herod, when he caused a multitude of little children to be slaughtered. The child Christ, nevertheless escaped, and the Devil met his first defeat in this connection.

Now the Dragon being fortified with seven heads and ten horns, denotes that he controlled all the civil and religious powers in that day (for the symbolical number “ten” denotes universality, just as do the ten toes of Daniel 2, the ten horns of the other Bible beasts, and the ten virgins of Matthew 25).

The horns represent all the civil powers, while the heads represent all the religious powers, for the Biblical number “seven” denotes completeness. Moreover, the fact that the Church (the Jews), the only agency through which God worked up to that time, crucified the Lord, is in itself sufficient proof that the Church had apostatized, that she had become the Dragon’s seventh head, and that thus was the Dragon armed with ten horns and seven heads, — with all the civil and religious powers. And, so, you see, the Dragon with his horns and heads represents the world captured by the Devil.

Thus it is that the world was lost in that day, and thus it was that Christ came to redeem it. To do all this He started a new church organization. In this light we see Christ, the world’s Redeemer, and His mission even more important than we have ever seen it before.

The Dragon’s drawing from heaven a third part of the stars (angels, Rev. 12:9) with his tail, not with his claws, denotes that in the beginning of Satan’s universal rebellion the angels volunteered to follow the rebel leader, and to unite with him in his evil work against the human family.

Rev. 12:7-17 — “And there was war in heaven: Michael and His angels fought against the Dragon; and the Dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great Dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the Devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

And when the Dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the Dragon cast out of his mouth. And the Dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The main point to be noticed in these verses is that after the Dragon and his angels were cast out of Heaven (Satan’s second defeat), and after he had persecuted the Church, and she had taken her flight into the wilderness, the Dragon followed her there, but rather than persecuting her, he cast “water as a flood after her,” hoping to cause her to be carried away by it.

In other words, after he saw that he could not stop the growth of the Christian Church by persecuting her followers, he changed his tactics and instead compelled the Pagans to join her, expecting thereby to cause her to be paganized — “carried away.”

The Dragon, though, is again to miss the mark, for the earth is to open her mouth and swallow up the flood; that is, Inspiration definitely forecasts that those who join the Church for some purpose other than to follow and practice the Truth, shall be disposed of by a miracle, be swallowed by the earth, as it were. And when this comes to pass Satan shall have met his third defeat. Summarized, here are his three defeats: No. 1 — Failing to devour the child; No. 2 — Losing the war in Heaven; No. 3 — Failing to paganize the Church by flooding her with the unconverted.

When he meets his third defeat, when the tares which he sowed are burned (for as a flood they are swallowed by the earth, but as tares they are burned by the angels), then it is that the Church will appear “‘Fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners,’ she is to go forth into all the world, conquering and to conquer.” — Prophets and Kings, pg. 725.

Having met such a mighty defeat, and having seen that the Church is freed from his flood, the Dragon’s wrath is to be intensified. He will be wroth with the woman and“make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 12:17), “the Spirit of Prophecy” (Rev. 19:10).

Obviously, the remnant are those who are left after the earth opens her mouth and swallows up the flood. They as a body keep the commandments of God, and have the living Spirit of Prophecy, the Spirit Who dictated the Scriptures, Who has led God’s people into all Truth down through the ages, and Who still is. Thus it is that the Dragon’s wrath, and the Church’s purity, caused by the Dragon’s third defeat, are to bring the time of trouble such as never was:

“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Dan. 12:1.

Nothing in the world is worth as much as having our names written in the book. And therein we may have our names if we choose to follow the Spirit of Truth and to keep the commandments of God. Here we have seen that those who think that the law, the ten commandments, is “abolished,” that their lives need not comport with the law; and those who think that the Spirit of Prophecy is a thing of the past, that God has left the world to get along as best it can, that He no longer bothers Himself to send a prophet; that all such shall find themselves in league with Babylon the Great, the seat of the Dragon, and rather than having their names written in the Book, they will have the mark of the beast, and have a part in persecuting the remnant which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Now is the time for all to decide either to be swallowed up by the earth — cast into the fire — or to be delivered by Michael, our Prince.

Let us therefore choose deliverance rather than defeat. “O love the Lord, all ye His saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.” Psa. 31:23.   (Timely Greetings, Vol. 2, No. 16, page 15- 23)

Mad Man Diagnosis

It is clear, the so-called “religious men” of Christ’s day were so furious with our King that they were literally driven –Mad. Reason was completely removed from them due to pride, self-assurance, ego, and all the other human weakness traits.

“Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. 

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.” (Matt. 12:22-28)

The Pharisees could not admit what was before their eyes– healing for a sick man. Their hatred was so deep that anything and everything was to be shunned that Christ spoke and did. The truth that Christ spoke and the acts He did were undeniable and could not be gainsaid. Yet they used character assassination with Him. Unfortunately, those who leaned on flesh (Jer. 17:5) , the great multitude followers of the Pharisees were deceived by them.

One of the clearest mad men exhibitions was that of Stephen’s case.

“But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” At this they covered their ears, cried out in a loud voice, and rushed together at him. and having cast him out of the city, began to stone him. And the witnesses laid aside their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen, he was calling out and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” (Acts 7:55-59)

Thus we see that this hatred of the truth was the type, and today there is an anti-type, let us look at that.

As many know we here on Godsloveandlaw are all about the truth, specifically “present truth”. SOP tells what we need today —

“Satan is pressing in on every side, and unless we watch for him, and have our eyes open to his devices and snares, and have on the whole armor of God, the fiery darts of the wicked will hit us. There are many precious truths contained in the Word of God, but it is “present truth” that the flock needs now.” (Early Writings, p.63)

Our present truth today is the Lord’s final message of Elijah, the one He promised in Mal. 4:5-6. This message tells us more about Satan and his mad men’s last day ploy. Anti-type to be repeated all over as in type.

“Everything that can be done will be done to distort the Truth and thus distract and dishearten believers and draw their attention to something other than the message of Elijah.

   Thus will be the Devil’s deal while the day of God is approaching, and while Elijah is making the announcement of it as the scroll unrolls and while the prophecies concerning the day of God are being unsealed.   His work and his interpretation of the prophecies for the great day will identify him as the promised Elijah the prophet (“Testimonies to Ministers,” p. 475), and this will enrage the Devil as never before.” (General Conference Special, p.7-8)

“And since the Enemy cannot get around the Truth, he does all he can to blacken character and to pick flaws in personalities.” (GCS, p.8) 

Recently we were contacted by a faithful sister of ours who is actively proclaiming the Lord’s Elijah message, even in her church! The Lord has blessed her with a church whose elders are open to truth, and do not go mad when hearing it, even though it may not be what they had once understood!

We’ll call her sister L. She has given a couple of Sabbath School lessons lately and also two of her Elders have requested private studies with her. She has reached out to us because she has been a part of our phone conference studies and has learned much. Her last call was a request for help in understanding the Rod references as follows —

 

“WHO IS THE ELIJAH OF TODAY? IS HE TO RESTORE ALL THINGS? WHAT TO DO WITH OFFSHOOTS?

   These questions are being agitated among us by an ever-increasing family of off-shoots, the most prominent and the most tormenting of which is “The Shepherd’s Rod.”  In truth its tormentings have grown to such proportions as to bring every true Seventh-day Adventist squarely face to face with it.  Indeed, brethren, its growing gravity challenges each one of us no longer to dodge the issue as did the Jews in their day, and thereby lose out, but rather to meet it as Christ met the Sanhedrin, and thus gloriously win out.

   This General Conference year should resolve in every mind, once for all, the questions as to who is who and what is what.  Even if you are not one who is personally tormented by the Rod, still you should fortify yourselves with the facts, so you may be able to administer the healing ointment of Truth to those who are suffering from its torments.

   To bring before you the seriousness of the situation in which the church finds herself at this late hour, and the remedy which God would have His people apply so as to set them free from this “offshoot” annoyance, I am therefore making this second attempt to set before you the revealed facts so that no one, whether minister or layman, need longer walk blindly and in darkness.” (GCS, p.3-4)

She said, “brother something is bothering me, the Rod calls it’s message “tormenting”, I can’t quite understand that, could you help me understand that?”

An excellent point and question to address for sure. As I supped with the Lord over this, very shortly the answer came. And that is that the type which we have already showed was Jesus dealing with the Pharisees. His truth and His miracles did indeed “torment” the non-believers! Such as the mad men Pharisees who flew into rages and total disgust upon listening or watching Jesus do His Father’s work.

Torment is indeed the right word. Thus today the Lord’s same truth is doing the same thing–tormenting our S.D.A leaders and members who have taken a “mad man” like stance against it. You want evidence? Let us look at the what the S.D.A leaders did to Victor Houteff and those who accepted the Rod message in the early days. 

“.. then came the message which we are now endeavoring to take to the Laodiceans.  The enemies of the message then left nothing unturned in their search for something against me, rather than to make sure that they were not turning down Truth.  They tried every hook and crook to pin something on me and to stop my activities, but found nothing and as a rule about 30 members of the church stayed in my special meetings each Sabbath afternoon.  Then came the time that the elders of the church refused to let us use the church for our meetings, and they made us all get out.

But one of the sisters who was living in a big house right across from the church offered her place for the meetings, and there was a great uproar among the people around the church premises.  Some were for us and some were against us.  So it was that the house across from the church was filled that afternoon and many listened from the outside through the windows.  The enemies failed to break up our meetings, and the victory was ours.

   Next they forbade us to attend their church services, and they began to disfellowship those who still wanted to attend our meetings.  They tried to deport me, too, but failed.  Then they endeavored to get a court order against any of us going to the church on Sabbath, but lost out.  Once they called the police to have me arrested on false charges that I was disturbing the meetings, but after the officers in the police station heard my story and the deacon’s charges against me, he commanded the two policemen who brought us to the station to put us in their car again, and to take us right back to the church where they picked me up!

   After this the elders endeavored to put me in an insane asylum.  The “city manager” of Glendale himself (a Seventh-day Adventist) had come to this church that Sabbath morning to lay down the charges and to see me carried away and locked in the asylum.  After talking with me for a few minutes, though, the officer did nothing but to tell me that he would not bother me again!  Then the 200 lb. city manager felt smaller than my 135 lb. weight.

   They did all these unbecoming things and many others; besides, they talked and preached against me.  And though I had no one but the Lord to defend me at any time, yet in all these the victory was mine!” (TG, vol. 2, no.35, p.22-23)

The above is just a small portion of the testimonies of those who have stepped forward with the Lord’s Shepherd’s Rod message. Even yours truly has been disfellowshipped from one of the local churches for discussing prophecy and admitting we believe in the message of the Shepherd’s Rod. Their fury and madness hasn’t changed.

SOP gives us light on our subject–

“Pilate was filled with amazement at the uncomplaining patience of the Saviour. He did not doubt that the sight of this Man, in contrast with Barabbas, would move the Jews to sympathy. But he did not understand the fanatical hatred of the priests for Him, who, as the Light of the world, had made manifest their darkness and error. They had moved the mob to a mad fury, and again priests, rulers, and people raised that awful cry, “Crucify Him, crucify Him.” At last, losing all patience with their unreasoning cruelty, Pilate cried out despairingly, “Take ye Him, and crucify Him: for I find no fault in Him.”(Desire of Ages, p.736)

“The message God sends through His servants will be scorned and derided by unfaithful shepherds, who tread down with their feet the feed of the pastures, giving the flock as food that which they have defiled. “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.”(Review and Herald, June 25, 1901)

Despite the mad men actions today, there is a “shaking” going on right now, truth lovers against truth haters and this will culminate with the Church purification (Ezek.9). Let us stand upon the truth platform even though Satan is working hard through his mad men servants to slander us, mock us, despise us, disfellowship us. His tactics are the same today as yesterday, except barbarism is against the rule of law fortunately, but our Lord is the same today as yesterday and GREATER IS HE.

Angels = God’s Swift Messengers

Through out the Scriptures we see that the Lord has used angels often for  either communications,  good deeds or swift retributions. They are indeed active in the great redemption plan of God. This week we’ll look at some of their actions in the past and make a greater point as to how some of God’s S.D.A leaders are  mincing, chopping and trying to make of no effect a plain “Thus sayeth the Lord” Word.

SOP counsels us ––

“False teachers may appear to be very zealous for the work of God, and may expend means to bring their theories before the world and the church; but as they mingle error with truth, their message is one of deception, and will lead souls into false paths. They are to be met and opposed, not because they are bad men, but because they are teachers of falsehood and are endeavoring to put upon falsehood the stamp of truth.” (Testimonies to Ministers, p.55)

Angels, as mentioned have produced some memorable acts in Scripture, for instance who can forget the great story of the angel, Gabriel in swiftly coming to answer Daniel’s prayer —

“Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding….And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 

Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.” (Daniel 9:21-22, 10:12-14)

But there are other acts which have shown the great and powerful swift justice of God upon man. He has used angels for these solemn occurrences —

“And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD  went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand:  and when they arose early  in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.”(2 Kings, 19:35)

One would think that the above is clear , to the point and not at all misunderstood, right? Not so fast. Recently we were involved in a Facebook public chat with brother H, (alias). The subject came about because another brother made a post asking for any help in receiving a report on the church history of abominations. In other words, he wanted to know what past historical acts of church leadership was known as truly wrong in God’s eyes by Scriptural standards.

We responded that we had a phone conference study directly dealing with that subject and we posted the link. Anyway later in the chat , the subject came up about how God uses angels for swift executors of judgments in times past. Well brother H expressed his strong opinion on the subject, basically telling this author that I was all wrong and misunderstood how God uses angels. 2 Kings 19:35 was posted asking how he could deny such obvious acts of angels upon God’s command. To this he said —

“it is highly conflated Hebraic prose representing the principle of Divine Recession. That was a pestilence that came upon them, which was allowed by God through the withdrawal of angel protection. I have  also a paper on this event. Remember:

“Angels are sent from the heavenly courts, NOT TO DESTROY, but to watch over imperiled souls, to save the lost, to bring the straying ones back to the fold. ‘ I came not to condemn, but to save.’ Christ declared (RH May 10, 1906, par.15)  See also GC 36.1.

Huh?? This seemed much gobble gook and I knew we’d have to look into this further to decipher his meaning, which the Spirit told me was very misconstrued. Now, it would be one thing if there were not many other brethren following this conversation, such as a one on one email chat or study. I would not have had such desire to help him see his error due to the fact that he is the author of three books on the “Three Angels’ messages.” In other words his is full of himself and has no need of any contrary points of view, but because there may be others who can benefit from this conversation, I took upon it a more serious attitude.

“The truths most plainly revealed in the Bible have been involved in doubt and darkness by learned men, who, with a pretense of great wisdom, teach that the Scriptures have a mystical, a secret, spiritual meaning not apparent in the language employed. These men are false teachers. It was to (p.599) such a class that Jesus declared: “Ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God.” Mark 12:24.

The language of the Bible should be explained according to its obvious meaning, unless a symbol or figure is employed. Christ has given the promise: “If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine.” John 7:17. If men would but take the Bible as it reads, if there were no false teachers to mislead and confuse their minds, a work would be accomplished that would make angels glad and that would bring into the fold of Christ thousands upon thousands who are now wandering in error.”(GC, p.598-599)

It was clear that this gobble gook was a disguise of the plain simple “thus sayeth the Lord”. Yet even though I knew this, others were watching and should be shown the false path of interpretation this brother was trying to lead them, in a comprehensive way because we are dealing with a self proclaimed scholar.

Our proof case would be 2 Kings 19:35. Before we go into it, we want to explain that the reason this exposure of false teaching is important is because he really is attempting to deny the Lord’s power and His rightful execution of judgments. After all these are for our admonition , our benefit in knowing we serve a loving yet honest and holy God. His will and judgments are RIGHT even when some call them “uncalled for, extreme, just for the Old Testament,  etc.” Or in the case of brother H –substitution of meaning and not employed by the plain word of God.

Brother H sent us a report showing that God NEVER has angels do any destroying, rather it is the evil angels who do the killing or hurting, upon God’s withdrawal of protective angels. He used several SOP quotes and sounds all nice and cozy but is it true, does God allow Satan and his angels to do His justice and retributions? Sounds quite far fetched even at first glance!

“Remember that the destroyer is Satan. NEVER in Scriptures is the destroyer anything but Satan or wicked forces. In Revelation 9:11 the “angel of the bottomless pit” is called the Destroyer in two languages.”

Here we see that brother H wrongly attributes the Destroyer of Rev. 9:11 to Satan, as even most protestants do.

Ok let’s examine our test case.

 “And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD  went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand:  and when they arose early  in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.”(2 Kings, 19:35)

As we have many times reminded our readers, the Bible site called E-Sword is very helpful in knowing the Hebrew and Greek translations of all the words. Each word in the Old Testament is given an H then a number, for instance  the verse breaks down as follows —

“And it came to pass (H1961)  that (H1931)  night,(H3915) that the angel  (H4397) of the LORD (H3068) went out, (H3318) and smote (H5221) in the camp (H4264) of the Assyrians (H804) an hundred (H3967) fourscore (H8084) and five (H2568) thousand: (H505) and when they arose early (H7925) in the morning, (H1242) behold, (H2009) they were all (H3605) dead (H4191) corpses.”

So we want to zero in on “angel”, what does H4397 mean in Scripture? A literal angel, or a figurative one? A heavenly messenger of God? Just what is that meaning?

Now we can go to another great site that helps us see all the meanings of the Hebrew/Greek words of the Bible, it’s called blueletterbible.org. When we search that word there we find the following —

H4397 — mal-awk’; from an unused root meaning to dispatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically, of God, i.e. an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher):—ambassador, angel, king, messenger.

Then we can next see the places in Scripture it is used and how it is used —

The KJV translates Strong’s H4397 in the following manner:angel (111x), messenger (98x), ambassadors (4x),

variant (1x).

So adding it all up we see that H4397 does indeed mean literal angel (111 times). We see that it could be a messenger (98 times) (ie. King, prophet, etc.) but in this case no one human could go through an army in one night and kill 185,000 men! Logical deduction proves it an angel of God.

Next we want to see “smote” H5221.  Could that be a pestilence as brother H says? 

H5221 — naw-kaw’; a primitive root; to strike (lightly or severely, literally or figuratively):—beat, cast forth, clap, give (wounds), × go forward, × indeed, kill, make (slaughter), murderer, punish, slaughter, slay(-er, -ing), smite(-r, -ing), strike, be stricken, (give) stripes, × surely, wound.

The KJV translates Strong’s H5221 in the following manner:smite (348x), slay (92x), kill (20x), beat (9x), 

slaughter (5x), stricken (3x), given (3x), wounded (3x), 

strike (2x), stripes (2x), miscellaneous (13x).

In looking at the vast amount of times H5221 is used either to smite or slay, it is clear that because the army men were struck by the angel H4397, they were killed directly by that angel.

To wind it up H4191 confirms being dead.

The KJV translates Strong’s H4191 in the following manner:die (424x), dead (130x), slay (100x), death (83x),

surely (50x),

kill (31x), dead man (3x), dead body (2x), in no wise (2x), miscellaneous (10x).

We have solid proof that the words of 2 Kings 19:35 can mean only what they literally say. This is God’s intent that we trust and believe the clear “thus sayeth the Lord” , not thus sayeth man who uses vain imaginations to thwart God’s word.

So to use brother H’s reasoning we must cross out H4397 (angel) insert one of “variant” meaning, which is only used 4 times in Scripture versus 111 times for literal angels. Then we must cross out H5221 (smite-kill used 440 times) for the use of “pestilence” which isn’t even listed as a meaning of that word. Lastly to confirm the Lord’s plain Scripture  and His angel’s faithful obedience the word “dead” is confirmed (H4191).

Further, context is always a must , we need to know the meaning of verses correctly and in their proper perspective. The Lord was not about to give up His beloved city to the Assyrians , for we read in the prior verse in 2 Kings 19:34 —

“For I will defend this city, to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.”

By way of disclosure this brother knows about the Lord’s Rod and flatly rejects it. Is there any more evidence needed to see that the Spirit of Truth is NOT leading? Sadly this kind of falsifying God’s word is rampant through out our people, it’s time to wake up and know His word properly and clearly –as it reads. Time is short and we must be on guard for all of Satan’s trickery. God DOES use angels both for uplifting man and for swift retribution. May His will be done and His kingdom come. And when it is time for that kingdom, there shall indeed be very active work done by His angels, both uplifting and swift retribution.

“These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.” (1 Cor. 10:11)

The Half-Hour Silence Teaching

In Revelation 8:1, as seen above, there is silence in all of heaven. No one speaks, no songs or any noise, just silence. Something big is happening that requires no one speak.

Many believe the complimentary  prophetic verse is the following —

“For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do His work, His strange work; and bring to pass his act, His strange act.” (Isaiah 28:21)

There is a big difference in the teaching of the half hour silence in heaven between Seventh-day Adventists and Davidian Seventh-day Adventists. The standard S.D.A teaching is that it is a description of the Second Advent of Christ. But just as with Swiss cheese, when we look closely at it , it is filled with holes and cannot stand up against the “more sure word of prophecy”. The following study guide , we hope will shed light on the true understanding.

Is The Half Hour Of Silence The 2nd Advent Of Christ?

a. THE JUDGMENT IS STILL IN PROGRESS since Jesus is still in the Sanctuary opening the seventh seal which means that he is still investigating the names of those during this period.

b. CHRIST IS STILL A BLEEDING LAMB.

c. AN HALF HOUR OF SILENCE IMPLIES THAT THERE IS AFTER THE HALF
HOUR WHAT EVER WAS GOING ON BEFORE MUST CONTINUE—The Judgment. Therefore the half an hour divides the judgment into two sections— the JOD and the JOL.

d. THE PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS ARE OFFERED UP BEFORE GOD. This indicates that probation is still open since you cannot offer prayers after Jesus’ 2nd advent—there will be no need.

e. THE ANGEL CAST DOWN FIRE TO THE EARTH. Fire is a symbol of THE HOLY SPIRIT. No one will need the outpouring of the Holy Spirit after the second coming of Christ.

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”(Acts 2:1-4)

f. THE VOICES, THUNDERINGS, LIGHTINGS, RETURN, SHOWING THAT THE JUDGMENT STARTED AGAIN. Compare with Rev. 4:5. The voices must represent the speaking of the beasts, elders, angels, etc. When God speaks it is like thunderings and lightnings. The voices clearly indicate that judgment continues AFTER THE HALF HOUR OF SILENCE.

What Happens During The Half Hour Of Silence?

The Purification of the Church.

a. The silence reveals that the Judgment must have ceased for a time. The only event which would cause silence during the judgment is the purification of the church–Ez. 9. It is the only time we know from both the Bible and the Testimonies that Jesus will interrupt his mediatorial work.

“Those who train the mind to seize upon everything which they can use as a peg to hang a doubt upon, and suggest these thoughts to other minds, will always find occasion to doubt. They will question and criticize everything that arises in the unfolding of truth, criticize the work and position of others, criticize every branch of the work in which they have not themselves a part.

They will feed upon the errors and mistakes and faults of others,”until,” said the angel, the Lord Jesus shall rise up from His mediatorial work in the heavenly sanctuary and shall clothe Himself with the garments of vengeance and surprise them at their unholy feast, and they will find themselves unprepared for the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Their taste has been so perverted that they would be inclined to criticize even the table of the Lord in His kingdom.” (Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 689)

b. This passage must be fulfilled during probationary time because it mentions: “…the unfolding of truth…” Truth only unfolds while probation still lingers. Furthermore, it states that “the Lord Jesus shall rise up FROM HIS MEDIATORIAL WORK…” This would indicate that He will interrupt his work of atonement.

How Long Is The Half Hour Of Silence?

About Seven Days—One Week.  [Using PROPHETIC TIME (A day=a year)]

a. One day=24 hours

b. One year=360 days

c. 360/24=15

d. 15=1 hour

e. 15/2=1/2 hour =7.5 days (ABOUT a week).

Thus the purification of the church—Ezek. 9, will last about a week.


SUMMARY: The seventh seal reveals that the JOL in Heaven will begin after the half hour of silence—purification of the church. The half an hour of silence, therefore, divides the investigative judgment into two parts: the Judgment of the Dead (JOD) and the Judgment of the Living (JOL).

Other references that bring support for this half hour execution of judgment in the house of God —

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Mal. 3:1-5)

 Take a look at the following and see how closely complementing this  prophetic Scripture is to Malachi 3:1-5. 

“For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 

And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to My holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.” (Isaiah 66:15-20)

Suddenly come to His temple (church), it is a surprise coming. It talks of who will stand at that time. In Rev. 6:15-17 describes men afraid of the coming of the Lord, wanting to hide themselves. But verse 17 says —

“For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Then in the very next chapter the answer is given in Rev. 7:1-8 — the 144,000 ! Thus it cannot be the Lord’s Second coming, rather Mal.3:1-5 and Isaiah 66:15-20. We see some “escape” the Lord’s wrath and go tell the world of the Lord, which cannot happen at the second coming. These purification judgments have never happened yet in the history of God’s people.

The second coming will save the “great multitude”(Rev. 7:9) but this “sudden” coming will save the wheat from the tares in the church the 144,000. The half hour silence is that time of His execution of judgment in God’s house.

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17)

CONCLUSION: The study of the seven seals reveal that God’s professed people have been on trial since 1844. This court case is the greatest and most important in the history of earth and the Universe. Each individual and generation is investigated with terrible exactness. It especially, and more importantly, reveals that the Judgment in the SDA Church will mark the opening of the Judgment for the Living.

Thus we see, that soon we will have to stand before the never erring Judge and give an account for our deeds—not physically, but our records will testify to whether we are worthy through the merits of Christ to be sealed, allowing the slaughtering angels to pass by and have our names retained on the Book of Life. Thus, we determine our own destiny by either holding on to our sins or repenting of them and forsaking them.
